Bakour Lanzarote Splash

Arrived home yesterday with our daughter & 3 grandkids age 7 9 & 11 the splash pool was suitable for all 3 of them. Water temperature was fine for kids didn't seem to be salt water. We were given a room by reception very noisy even after any entertainment, as you have kids kicking their footballs all night, then early morning you have the cleaners with their trolleys back ,& forth. we asked to move got a room on ground floor near splash pool, alot quitier but no sun at all so a little damp & musky. Beds are OK. Pillows are not adequate. We found the food enough for everyone's taste. Entertainment for kids is practically zero so don't expect them to be entertained. A few nights they have some entertainment starts about 9:30. Some staff we found a little moody. Have a day at Texas Rancho £5 in taxi great zoo & water park. It's 15 walk to beach & strip. 5 mins walk to small shopping mall & open air cinema which we all enjoyed. Love peurto del carmen as its so close to airport. About 8 mins in taxi. Oh forgot to mention beware sunbeds have had their day saw 2 people fsll through them. not enough sun rollys ,& they are all battered. Have fun in Bakour splash pool with kids & enjoy the food. Had an ok week but would not return here

Would not return to this hotel. Pool area dangerous. Broken tiles and drain gaurds that my son tripped on. Its dirty and theres cups and wrappers of food lying everywhere. The pools are freezing cold sea water and nobody actully uses the larger splash park as it is far too cold for any child to be in. The smaller splash park seems to be where everyone gathers and as i said its disgusting and dangerous. The rooms are same, look nice on eye but i found them dangerous for smallers kids. Kids can walk out the doors straight out to the pool as they dont lock from inside. We had no cold water from the showers at any point of our stay. The 3 woman on the reception are about as helpful as 3 wooden spoons when you report anything to them. The food is repetitive and the smell coming from the restauarant was sickening. The resort is noisy and doesnt calm down till after midnight. All you can hear all night is seats being dragged around the pool/bar area. Entertainment is poorly put together. They have a dolphin mascot called baku that comes out at lunch for kids that strangely enough only stands at bar area. He waves at them and heads back in. I really have nothing good to say about this hotel. Its not anywhere near 4star. It looks loke its ment to be targeted at kids but i think its a sorry excuse for a kids hotel. Needs a change of management and reception staff. Unfortunately they dont know the meaning of workong in the service industry. If you can avoid.

Second stay here and i remember why i hated it first time round. Only staying 1 night for airport run in morning and they still managed to cause us distress. My 2 year old son nearly lost his finger in a faulty door in our room. I rang reception multiple times with no answer to having to run him down there in his nappy at night. The reception staff did not care at all. I had to give my son first aid with a spanish first aid kit. I didnt have a clue what i was doing or using on my son. Never got an apology or anything. I asked for a second band aid and they had none and they just smiled and said sorry there nothing we can do. Eventully they showed enough initiative and walked a few meters to another room and got me one only after they could see i was getting really angry with situation and there was other guests at the desk. Do yourself a favour do not book here. Its not kid friendly in the slightest and god forbid your child needs any medical assistance on site. Will not be back in this place. Disgraceful hotel.

We stayed here for a week and got back on Thursday. The good… Loved how we could see our kids pop back to room whilst we watched them from our sunbeds. The wrist bands have the key card in them. So never worried about getting locked out. Loved that we had a 2 bed apartment. Cleaners were great and in every day but we stayed in the room next to their base so heard all their trollies come out at 7am! Breakfast good, lunch dinner ok. Not much is labelled though which is a bit annoying. We ate out most nights. Had all inc for ice creams, drinks and snacks in the day. I wanted gluten free bf and they gave me bread, crackers and cake every morning! They do provide decent shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Kids loved the slides. Esteban the guy who runs the drinks van is just the BEST! He had everyone entertained and never stopped, serving, cleaning, singing, dancing and giving my son too many ice creams and rainbow slushies! The hotels best asset by miles. He doesn’t work weekends though. I missed him on those 2 days lol. The bar food in day was good but most of the time only one person on bar, always a queue. The not so good.. the pool temp! We went via taxi to declathon to buy some wetsuits. Unless you go in the summer months I’d strongly advise getting these before. Not even the Chinese shops had them. Didn’t like the sink! Looked fancy but awkward for my kids brushing teeth and washing hands. But sure that will be on the bottom of the list as a costly change to make. Kids club - just colouring in and a pirate day. The 2 guys were always trying tbf. But the girl there stayed in the hut whilst me and another dad was there with our kids. Evening entertainment. Mini disco. Very forced, wouldn’t stick around for it. Some good acrobats and a magician but that was about it. The quiz and karaoke was mostly for the French. A few of the hotel guests lowered the tone and heard there were a fights on st Patrick’s day evening. But that’s not the hotels fault! But if thinking of booking around march 17th- don’t. Reception staff.. Noah was pleasant with us one of the women there was a negative Nellie about my lost case. Said it would take 3 days which really panicked me. It didn’t it was there the eve of day after we arrived. Overall it’s good for the price and i think we would go back as in a great location. Tips for booking - message before arrival and ask for a room that gets the sun, and not next to the cleaners base! Buy the kids a wetsuit And don’t fly on a Thursday, it’s the airports busiest day and was absolutely rammed with big delays.

I find the other positive reviews of this hotel to be misleading. It’s not what I would consider 4 star. Reception staff and check in was painful. No information given, just here you go and off you pop. There’s a distinct feeling from staff that they don’t really care. We weren’t told where our room was, weren’t told how to get towels etc. The room was fine (after we found it). Pretty basic. Nice bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. Food was average for buffet type hotels I’d say. It gets tedious pretty quick. Breakfasts are ok, but lack of more interesting fruit like berries. Just bananas, oranges and kiwis every day. Lunches are great as the salads are fresh and very good. Dinner was boring and pretty drab. Lots of fried food. Barely any veg. No salads. The restaurant is in a basement and has an unpleasant smell. Whoever they use for their bakery and bread is incredible - really impressive bread, donuts, biscuits etc. Hardly any of the food is labelled, so not suitable for allergies. They cover a lot of food and desserts in nuts and have bowls of peanuts everywhere. One woman was about to eat a calamari which it turned out was an onion ring - she was horrified as vegetarian. But no labels so that will happen! The pools are amazing for kids. Sadly, what was most noticeable was how much rubbish was everywhere. Cups and ice lolly wrappers stuck in the greenery and in the pools. I imagine most of the can be blamed on the loud and raucous guests (it is very “Brits abroad”) but staff just don’t seem to care enough to clean it up. I ended up picking up litter myself as no one else seemed too bothered. Overall, not great. It’s a shame as the hotel is well located and could be really good. But the lack of interest and pride from the staff and a distinct lack of noticeable management makes this place a definite No in my books. Would not return nor recommend.
