Jardin del Atlantico

We travelled with apprehension having read the recent reviews however pleasantly surprised. The hotel, whilst aesthetically no architectural masterpiece, was large and well equipped; with a gym, nail bar, hairdresser and a shop. The room we had was bright, modern, clean and apparently recently modernised with an equipped kitchen area. It had a walk in Shower with both a hand held shower and waterfall showerhead. We were only there 4 nights and had a mid way towel change but no linen change which I don't know that I would have expected anyway in such a short stay. Breakfast was perfectly adequate with a microwave for those who like piping hot food. Cooked breakfast & continental options with a nice fresh fruit selection. I don't like the idea of half a banana or an apple, as they were discoloured very quickly. A big issue was the toaster with the knob removed meaning people needed 3 rotations for actual toast. We upgraded to AI for a day to try it out but the drink quality was poor at the bar and many drinks were excluded from AI. Lunch and dinner were very similar offerings and a bit bland. The hotel had a large percentage Spanish guests while we were there, many of whom were senior citizens and in all honesty very pushy, rude and entitled. No orderly queues or waiting your turn where they are concerned. I also found the staff much more accommodating of their needs than of the British guests by serving them ahead of us at the bar and such like. In reception we found Alijandro to be brash, rude and somewhat unhelpful, as though we were inconveniencing him by asking a question. Not what you expect in reception of all places. The main pool area was lovely, very clean and modern and well maintained. The children's pool was one of the best I have seen with amazing water features to amuse the youngsters for hours. We utilised the pool in the middle of the 2 buildings as it was much quieter and chilled and had its own bar. Suited us perfectly. The hotel has many bars and restaurants in close proximity and the local market was just across the road on the Saturday morning. The beach is no more than a five minute walk and you can reach the Yumbo Centre in about 20 minutes. All in all this hotel was a value hotel, it is not 5 star but it does not profess to be. But I would say that you could have a decent holiday experience here especially for those with younger children.

We stayed in a renovated room which was basic but more than adequate. Cleaned daily but no air conditioning which would have been an issue if it was any warmer or later in the season. Large pool is newly refurbished with good range of bar food for lunch, although bar closed at 11pm every night. Breakfast selection very good, and eggs cooked fresh to order if asked. Barbara on reception helpful, other day staff very grumpy and abrupt. Do not try for late check out....simply not an option, despite our party having an 88yr old with us! Location good, but bars opposite noisy. Definitely hire a car, hotel has small car park which is free, but limited spaces. Roads easy to navigate and island small. Small shop selection within hotel, but very varied opening hours. Supermarket choice just opposite if closed!

They say you get what you pay for. I be honest, if it was not for the start, I would be returning if they get things right. Arrived after a delayed flight due to aborted landing, we arrived around 10.30pm, the restaurant were shut, a question was asked if any food available as all inclusive, to say no, there's shops over the road.on booking in we went to the room, the room was for 3 adults, only 2 single beds and a sofa which had no linen, i had emailed prior asking for a proper bed, told everyone gone home, what do I do, shut of shoulders. Anyway, I slept on the floor the next day, I went to reception and asked about a bed. They brought up a cabin type bed 5ft 6 long, not wide, i am 6ft 2, and a big fella, well used mattress and slept on floor.maid service hit and miss, kept forgetting there were 3 adults. This is not a great start. After the mishaps, we started to enjoy the holiday, I emailed for an pool veiw and it's what we got, the music in the hotel finishes at 11.00pm, but if your on the front the clubs are open until 2am. The hotel is probably the cleanest hotel we have been to for a while, pool area washed and brushed every morning, bar area clean, toilets down steps and kept clean. The food was very good, my wife is celiac, and the restaurant manager was fantastic, he advised on food at meal times, even offered to make pizza and pasta, gluten free bread avalible and plenty of meats at meal time. I myself am fussy, but stated I found the food very good, well done chefs and staff. The pool bar staff, excellent, no fuss, is always there to help and serves a large selection of drinks. There is a food hall at the pool bar, but this is not included in the all-inclusive, you have to go to the restaurant. Reasonably priced. There is a children's pool, kids enjoying, no entertainment for the kids. This was our 1st time in Gran canneria, The hotel is in a highly entertaining area, and it is a great location to get about. I would have given the hotel a higher grade, but due to the service from reception and the service for the room only given 3.having spoken to the rep , I was advised the hotel is only a 3 star hotel and afraid this does happen. My final comment is, if they can work on the reception, maybe give keys to storage areas, ect, then I would not have to sleep on the floor. Linen, ect. Keep room service updated on nu.bets in room. Maybe get better bedding as holes in sheets and duvet. We would go back due to the service at the restaurant and pool bar, but we need to make sure we get the right service at the front end.
