Hotel Taimar, Costa Calma. We went All Inclusive with Jet2 for 14 nights. 2 adults. Exceptionally clean and modern after a major refurb in 2020. Double room, very spacious with balcony on the 1st floor. No sea view as nowhere near the sea. Shower was amazing and beds incredibly comfortable. Large wardrobe, 4 hangers, shelves and a safe (€30) 15-20 minute walk into Costa Calma town centre (not very much going on in way of shops, bars and restaurants). Beach absolutely stunning which makes up for the town’s shortcomings. This hotel should be advertised as Adults Only, as there is absolutely nothing for children to do there nor catered for. The swimming pool is small and pool toys such as inflatables are not allowed. This hotel should not be advertised as All Inclusive. Although drinks are served at the pool bar from 11.00-6.00, there are NO snacks through the day at all, only that morning’s left over pastries from breakfast are put on the bar around 4.30pm, that is the only food served between meals and only from that bar. You are served drinks by the staff in the restaurant at lunch and dinner, you don’t help yourself like in most All Inclusive hotels. You are NOT allowed to fill water battles from the water machines, if you arrive at night you may have a cup of water each from the water machine in reception, while eating the meal provided for you, other wise there are 2 x 500ml welcome bottles of water in your room. We sat in a dark restaurant at midnight when we arrived. There is nowhere to enjoy drinks in the evenings after dinner as there isn’t a lounge area, just 3 tables with bar stools in the windiest area of the restaurant. The whole restaurant is windy, ridiculously so at times and chilly with it, so take a hoodie or lil jacket. The patio heaters were removed for our last night, we think to discourage anyone staying later than 11pm when the bar closes….on the dot, lights off. There is NO evening entertainment at all. Food was nice, local, had a vegetarian and a pasta option, meat, fish and chips, but a small selection. Not very much going on with desserts though….to my husband’s dismay. The majority of the bar & waiting on staff were efficient and friendly, the kitchen staff were ok if you spoke to them, otherwise silent. The 3 men in reception are German and clearly not used to dealing with English guests politely. We complained about 1 in particular, Max, to our Jet2 rep. When we asked if there was an excursion folder he said “welcome to 2025 people, it’s all online” it wasn’t and what was we couldn’t see anything or way to book. We asked when our Jet2 rep would be along, we were told they didn’t come as it was too quiet a hotel for them to visit. I contacted Jet2 via their welcome App and within 30 minutes a lovely lady called Jona arrived to help and arrange an excursion for us. What reception should have informed us was the Jet2 reps will come out to a pre booked appointment. However once we complained to Jona re: reception’s rude attitude, 2 of the men made an effort from there on in, Max, Mr “welcome to 2025” preferred to hide behind his computer screen if he saw us. One lady receptionist was really helpful when we asked for a check out extension, the others said we couldn’t till the morning of departure, but she sorted it the day before, and it was €40 more. Would we stay again, unfortunately not.

I stayed here on a solo break for 7 nights and I'm currently writing this from the pool bar as I await my transfer pick up. When I arrived a week ago, it was very late and I was greeted by a very polite gentleman at reception. The hotel had plated some cold food (which was delicious - chicken, salad, fruit and the like) as it was after the restaurant had closed. After a long day with flight delays, this was a lovely touch. He explained very clearly the opening times for everything, and pointed out where my room was with no issue. The food each day has been lovely, there wasn't huge variety but that meant what was there was well thought out and cooked beautifully. Whenever something was starting to empty from the buffet, it was replaced promptly with a fresh batch. The bar staff both in the restaurant and poolside were always polite, friendly and attentive. The only time my room wasn't cleaned was when I placed my 'Do Not Distrub' sign on the door. Every other day, I found my room to be clean, towels replaced, and bed made. The room itself, just like the rest of the hotel, was modern and clean. I loved the entire design of the hotel, it's just what's needed for a relaxing break away. The only downside I would say it that the water refill stations state not to fill bottles up - it's not the end of the world as there's no limit to the amount you can get up for a glass of water, but as someone who drinks at least 2L per day, I'd have liked to have filled a bottle up. Costa Calma itself is very quiet, the walk to the beach is lovely and there are lots of lovely running routes in the area. Despite it being remote, I didn't at any point feel unsafe, and it was a perfect break away. If you're wanting something lively and to get hammered every night, then I'd stay elsewhere, however, that isn't everyone's cup of tea. Hotel Taimar was exactly my cup of tea.
