The location of the hotel, which is on its own beach, is excellent - a market, bus station, pizzerias, restaurants are 5 minutes away. 10 minutes from the center of with restaurants and souvenir shops. It takes 20 minutes by bus to Taormina, and the buses go for 15 minutes and have air conditioning. The Hellenia hotel front desk staff said on checkout that we had eaten things in room and said we owed money on checkout... THIS is NOT a LEGIMATE billing and I told staff to remove charge. THE FRONT DESK staff did not remove the charges and NOW I am having to DISPUTE the credit card charges of approx $40 This experience really cancels out a lovely stay for an older hotel that has a great location and beautiful beach setting!

The hotel is old but in the beach. The staff is absolutely horrible with the exception of Tonino. They are rude and treat Americans like second class citizens. The day manager is even more rude than the staff Obviously he leads by example and instills bad behavior in everybody . The staff does not care about guests and they do not take pride in doing their job. They are just there to make a buck Breakfast is horrible Do not stay on the fifth floor as you may break a leg going up and down the stairs especially if it rains. There is a strong sewage for coming from the bathroom and the rooms are dirty with hairs all over. They don’t have blankets !! Imagine it’s November and all you have to cover yourself with are 2 sheets. The hotel is unused mainly by tours such as Globus other wise why would anyone stay there? To get abused and be offended?
