At the beginning, I must point out that we are not people who require who knows what standards, we do not criticize when it is not absolutely necessary, but we also expect basic expectations and a level that will allow us to have a good time, relax and enjoy visiting and sightseeing. new places. My excerpts may seem too long at the beginning, but I recommend reading them, unfortunately ☹
So yes - we chose the breakfast-only option because we planned to spend most of our time outside the hotel. And then I hit a wall - every day for breakfast there was the same menu, but that wasn't the problem at all, it was that all the dishes that were supposed to be hot were cold - scrambled eggs, fried eggs, fried bacon, or baked sausages. Regardless of the time of arrival for breakfast, which was served from 7:30 to 10:00, everything simply "came out" cold from the kitchen, so the heated counters on which the food was placed were no longer able to heat it up. was possible because these devices are only used to maintain the temperature. Another problem was bread - the only available ones were toasted bread that could be toasted (so something warm) and rolls, which unfortunately were delivered only after 8 or not at all, which was problematic in the case of choosing a trip organized by a travel agency, because most often the departure was at 8:00. And finally, the breakfast regrets - the total lack of any vegetables, and this is rather unprofessional in the case of 4 stars, and one could even say it's a mockery. In addition, quite a lot of different types of croissants, cookies, cakes, yogurts, cereals, etc. Once, on the day of arrival, we bought lunch and dinner for 25 euros per person. The restaurant is too much to say - plastic tables and chairs placed on the terrace next to the building, covered with a tarpaulin, placed too close to each other, sometimes made it difficult to squeeze between them, it gives more of a "milk bar" character.
The second, quite unprofessional approach to the customer was the hotel "showed up" when renting a car, which they had on site. The price is astronomical for me - 120 euros/day with insurance, but the standard version is only Fiat Panda with manual air conditioning, without navigation, etc. etc., but the basic version. And maybe there wasn't a problem here, because, as I mentioned at the beginning, we're not picky, but the outside of the car was so dirty that it was really difficult to see the world through the windows when the sun was shining. The lady renting the car, which lasted quite a long time, about 30 minutes, when 6 p.m. passed, i.e. the end of her work, showed her nervousness at the fact that she was not going home yet. The low tire pressure warning light was on in the car, but the lady said it was nothing and they would take care of it next week. Well, that's hard. After sitting in the car, starting it and trying to spray the windows to clean them and see something, it turned out that there was no fluid in the windshield washer, so we reported it. The lady took two half-drunk bottles of mineral water from the reception and went to refill the gaps, stating that everything was fine now (after we returned the car, it was parked in front of the hotel in the same condition until our departure). So we started preparing the windows for driving - a paper towel, another bottle of water and we washed them (for 120 euros/day), when a man drove up in a red Panda and, in a rather aggressive manner, waving his hands, tried to tell us something. After informing us that we do not understand Italian, in English he orders us to leave the place in front of the hotel and give it to him. I politely reply that we will do it in a few moments, when we clean the windows, and he says no, that we have to do it now. Well, then I got a little angry and said that I would go to the toilet in that case, and he replied even more aggressively that if he said now, then I would get in and leave now - get out!!!! my Partner, wanting to avoid the continuation and possible consequences of this "clash", convinced me to leave after all. As it later turned out, this rude man was the hotel manager ☹ Apart from these two people, the service was ok.
At the end of the complaint, it should be added that in the room we had puffballs on the wall above the floor in the corridor on the plaster due to moisture (fungus), and the hotel is located in a total filth.
The beach, the one described at the Spiaggia di Cala hotel (approx. 600 m), is very small, intimate, rocky (entrance into the water should be worn with shoes), but quite nice, with a nice bar with sofas and armchairs under the trees on a hill near the descent to beach. The second beach, La Marinedda (approx. 1200 m), which can be reached via a gravel road from the hill on which the hotel is located, is sandy and very nice, worth recommending, with a bar serving great dishes.
The nearest town - Isola Rossa - is about 3 km away via a mountainous road (uphill and downhill), where there is also a bus from the hotel (5 euros per person in both directions and 10 at night), but sometimes the driver forgets that he took someone there and you have to come back for them. We recommend the Coccodrillus restaurant.
And quite far from the airport - about 2 hours. driving, but in a comfortable bus.
To sum up - the place itself is quite nice, I can recommend it, but the hotel with its "standards" sucks.
