Al Pescatore Hotel & Restaurant

The staff and especially the management has been awful and even the threatening when try to solve an issue - very bad experience

We really enjoyed our stay in Gallipoli at the Al Pescatore. Accommodation was comfortable and clean. Location was excellent, close to all the amenities in the old town. We had dinner in restaurant on the first evening and got 10% off bill. Breakfast had plenty of choice. Would recommend

Our visit to Galliopi has for me an experience of mixed views. The hotel had a lot of history,with it being previously an old monastery.I would have liked to have known more about the place as it was before as this for me could have been a definite starter of thinking how life may have been. The hallway from the reception and the breakfast room,showed features of the older part of the monastery Awesome Photos attached. On arrival we arrived late,but it would have been nice for a complementary sandwich as it was too late to go out The room we stayed in was large and spacious.The shower room/bathroom was large and there were a good selection of towels. The reception staff was all very good, helpful and friendly except one Will leave it at that as didn't expect to be spoken to like that The restaurant was extremely busy with the locals,with a well presented menu Mainly fish,as our party do not like fish it was not for us. So we liked a drink They had a room near the lift that could have been used for guests who wanted a drink only! When wanting to have a drink,it was an effort and we were put in to a corner of the restaurant.Our group of 3 ,bill was 92 euros and we gave 100 euros,but no change was given back and we never tipped them as surcharges are applied already. If you use the bottles of water in the fridge you will be charged at 2 euro per bottle(when cheaper in shops/supermarket) Galliopli for me was not quite the busy season,so the boat excursion never took place due to lack of demand.Lovely sea Photos attached. There is a train that goes around the town and it costs 3 50 euros each and it takes around 15 minutes There is a remains of a castle.There are buses around the town but again probably operate in the busy season only. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, souvenir shops and a few churches in the location. Note that most restaurants have fish on their menus and not meat.Beware of the many scooters and cars,who do not stop if you are standing on a zebra crossing The beach is very clean, and when you leave the hotel turn left.But there is some plastic waste that has been washed up . Photo attached. Recliners are available to hire per day around 7 euros and also umbrellas sets But we purchased an umbrella set in town and used for the week. We got a train from Galliopi to Lecce,it cost 10.60 euros return per person. The journey took around 80 mins.It starts at Galliopi and ends at Lecce.Locals very friendly in the town🇮🇹 Enjoyed the hotel overall,but needs tweaking here and there

Hotel & Restaurant Al Pescatore… such an amazing place! Placed into the fascinating Gallipoli old town right in front of the sea where you can definitely enjoy the beauty of the city of Gallipoli. The building is very characteristic, an old monastery turned into a very nice and warm place to stay, keeping the classical atmosphere of Salento. Here you will find Luciano, the owner, with his family and his staff which will make you feel in a special and warm environment cuddling you from the very first step in the building. The rooms are essential and clear and some of them have a nice view on the sea. The plus of this place is the restaurant for sure where you could try the freshness of the unbelievable local seafood cooked by Luciano and the other members of the kitchen. If you wanna experiencing what Salento means this is the right place for you

The hotel itself is well located, but is only conveniently accessed on foot. The rooms have been refurbished in the simple Italian style, and are clean and comfortable, with a good bed and shower. The breakfast offering is ample. However, despite the pictures showing attractive public areas, there's no usable lounge or terrace seating. Staff / service a bit variable, and the concept of ordering food or drinks to the room not available.
