We extremely well looked after by the catering team with our specific dietary requirement of no onion/garlic, eggs or fish. Meals were made to cater for this requirement which as appreciated. The resort itself has a good kids club and paddle pool for the kids was a hit! This was not too busy compared to the other pools which seemed overly busy. The Three brothers beach as a 10 minute walk away, and it was a beautiful beach to visit. Improvements: At times our rooms were not serviced, and even on request to the reception team, even though we were assured they would be serviced, it was not actioned. This was disappointing and extremely inconvenient considering we have small children. At times reception would not answer the phone for over an hour, and said they were too busy checking guests in. This staffing shortage should be addressed, and it unacceptable existing guests are inconvenienced at the expense of new guests! The vegan options/ eggless were very limited in the buffet, e.g. icecream/pasta/ cheese were all labelled as having egg in them. Some of these everyday staples should be available without egg/ vegan options. The pathways have sharp edgings which need to be addressed as any child falling on them can injure themselves significantly.

We recently stayed at the Tivoli Resort, advertised as a 5-star hotel, and I wanted to share an honest review to hopefully help others when considering this destination. Rooms & Housekeeping One of the biggest disappointments was the room service. Rooms were not cleaned daily unless you placed a tag on your door, something I only discovered after calling reception. I was told cleaning was only done every couple of days, which isn’t what you’d expect from a 5-star hotel. On one occasion, we returned late to find our room hadn’t been cleaned or replenished, leaving us with no toilet rolls, coffee, or milk. We also had to wait three days for an iron and ironing board, despite several requests, and the beds were extremely hard, something to bear in mind if you value a comfortable sleep. To add to this, our patio door broke three times, meaning we couldn’t properly use our outside space. Hotel Grounds & Facilities Parts of the resort felt unfinished. Around the main dining hall, the landscaping was incomplete, leaving rubble and mud in view while eating outside. Many paths also had potholes and uneven ground, which didn’t feel safe or fitting for a luxury resort. Dining Experience The main restaurant, Essenze, was a let-down. Food often seemed to be cooked too far in advance and left under heat lamps, resulting in dry meats and inedible chips, even my two young lads wouldn’t eat them, which says a lot. On several occasions, we walked out due to the poor choice and unappealing presentation. Staff numbers seemed low, as crockery and cutlery weren’t replenished quickly, and waiting for a coffee could take ages. Bars & Entertainment For the size of the complex, there simply weren’t enough staff behind the bars. Expect long waits for drinks, especially in the afternoon when guests start ordering cocktails. Entertainment was also disappointing, starting late at 9:30pm each night, making it unsuitable for young children. Positives It wasn’t all negative, the pool areas were clean and well looked after. The pool activities, especially water polo, were great fun, and the adults-only pool was a nice relaxing spot. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful, securing us a ground-floor room as requested. Outside the resort, Slide & Splash was fantastic family fun (we went twice and would definitely recommend), Zoo Marine was enjoyable with excellent shows, and a trip into Alvor in the evening was a highlight, the local steakhouse we visited was outstanding. Overall Impression Unfortunately, the Tivoli Resort simply doesn’t live up to its 5-star label. At best, I would rate it 4-star, but even then, the unfinished grounds, poor dining experience, lack of staff, and inadequate entertainment need serious improvement. For the money we spent, which took a long time to save, it just wasn’t worth it. We wouldn’t return, and I believe there are better resorts available for the same price.

We had a nice family stay. The accommodation was a good size and cleaned every day. Pools were nice and plenty of sunbeds. Beach was a nice 10minute walk away. Breakfast in Mad Mee was nice with plenty of choice and we was well looked after by Antonio Joao ***** and the gentleman cooking the fish outside...thank you. The entertainment team worked hard. Improvements - the evening entertainment needs improving, the acts were in our opinion below average. More needed for children in the evening. Main restaurant - food cold at all meal times.
