Pestana Blue Alvor Beach - All Inclusive Hotel

After reading lots of reviews regarding the food here, I couldn’t fault it, always something to eat, something different, I don’t eat fish, but this weren’t a problem, lots of other choices. Only thing I would say is that there could be a bigger selection for children to choose from. The desserts and fruit each day were delicious. As a family we really enjoyed it. The hotel was lovely, although the lift system is a nightmare at times, we were only on the 4th floor, so was easier to walk down the stairs and at the night we found it easier to go down to first floor to get the lift up to 4. Worked well for us, The rooms were lovely inside, bathroom with shower, beds were comfy but needed better pillows also not enough storage space for 2 adults and a child for a weeks clothes. The staff were all friendly and the kids entertainers were great, especially those at the kids disco at a night, they were fab, my children loved them, always getting the kids involved and getting the adults to join in the last song and Dance. We would happily return to this hotel.

Lovely sunshine break with my teens. Hotel is in a very good location very close to beach and short 5 min drive to Alvor (wasn't enticed by the 20 minute walk!). I thought it was excellent for families, lots of activities and staff super friendly. Evening entertainment was great, we enjoyed the cocktail lounge and singers, but the shows in the other bar looked fun too. Main restaurant served a great variety of food, considering having to cater for many diverse tastes the choice was varied and tasty. It was busy at times but staff did their best to tidy up and find you a table. In fact the cleaning staff were amazing keeping all areas spotless given the volume and flow of people at times. The snack bar had nice selection of light bites maybe not hugely imaginative but did include fresh fruit alongside things like hot dogs, burgers. Both a la carte restaurants provided an enjoyable change to the main restaurant. Drinks were branded! Our family room was a superior seaview, very comfortable and clean, our maid was fab (floor 9!) My only quibble is I dont think this is really 5* although a very high bar 4*. My advice would be if youre expecting the finesse and little extras that come with 5* - eg porter service, fancy toiletries... complimentary slippers...dressing gown...minibar - then you'll be disappointed. But if you want a fun break at a quality modern hotel with excellent amenities youll have a thoroughly enjoyable holiday
