Sofia Alcudia Beach Aparthotel

I picked Hotel Sofia for its location, within walking distance to the old town (33 minutes by walk). It was difficult to take bus or order a taxi in Alcudia Beach area, which might take a long time to wait. The beach was long and wide with fine sands. My suite has a sea view. But the gate from the hotel property to the beach was unguarded at all. The room was big but the sound proof quality was bad. I was able to hear people talking outside my window or in the hallway. Pillows were not comfortable and operating the air conditioning devices in the room took some learning skills. Furniture and bathroom doors malfunctioned sometimes. Toilet had no tissue paper or dental kits and only a small trash bin. Breakfast had good selection. Staffs were really kind and professional. They had done a marvelous job to make guests satisfied. There are two outside restaurants I would like to suggest: Dos Pins on the right and Bistro Jardin on the left, within 5 min of walking distance. There was a big hotel "Sunwing" nearby which seemed to be the most popular property in the area even with laundromat.

This is a nice hotel. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It’s located right on the beach. Breakfast is nice. Rooms are nice. We didn’t love the large S In the shower that allowed you see into the bedroom, real lack of privacy. Unfortunately our balcony had a terrible view, it would definitely be worth asking for a room with a view.

Perfect location. Nice pool and close to the beach. Nice clean rooms with all you could need. Nice and helpfull staff. Good breakfast and nice optimal buffe dinner Short walk to restaurants and shopping. Strongly recommend for family or couple

As a couple we found this hotel to be in a prime location for our needs. Right on the beach, slightly quieter and away from the Port. The Port is a shortish walk 1.5k along the beach path where there are multiple shops and restaurants and entertainment during festivals. The hotel isn't too large, boutique feel, with modern tasteful rooms, many having at least some sea facing aspect. The staff leave you to it but are helpful when needed. Breakfast was fantastic, catering for many needs. The only downside for us as a couple was the quantity of children… obviously the is makes the hotel a fantastic family place to stay. It also meant children were early to bed and quiet corridors at night! We also noticed people coming into the hotel to use the facilities, like the pool, sunbeds and toilets with no monitoring. Also, sunbeds being reserved and not used. That all said, having visited Alcudia for 30 years it still comes down to right location and value for money. So we would definitely stay again, being one of the better hotels to choose from.

I cannot fault the hotels location; the breakfast selection and food was fantastic with a very good variety and the pool area has a great balance of a natural setting with comfy seating. The spa, whilst small, is perfectly adequate for its purpose. However, what shocked me was the staff attitude to our room not having any working air conditioning for the entirety of the week long stay. From the moment we arrived our air-conditioning did not put out any cold air (just warm air) and so the room never went below 24.5c, even through the night when the outdoor temperature was 19c. This made sleeping comfortably non-existent and even made a few nights difficult to sleep at all! We raised it with the hotel on a daily basis and they did have engineers look at it once during the stay (still wasnt fixed) but its the fact we were constantly told we were either lying or that the working aircon only goes down to 21.5c so 24.5 wasn't too bad. I'd argue that 21.5c is not acceptable as advertised as aircon in the first place but putting that aside, the lack of effort to address a significant issue is astonishing. Especially since we simply couldnt enjoy being in the room at any time during the day which ruined the fact we'd paid for the top tier room. In the end the hotel offered horrendously low compensation for a heavily scarred holiday experience. Considering the glowing reviews on here regarding the service and the fact I'm very lenient when it comes to unavoidable problems i was shocked that it was handled in this way and simply could not recommend this hotel if staying in Alcudia.
