HM Isabela - Adults Only

Booked a 4 night stay to join my sister in law, she had already booked and as I wanted to fly from a different airport, I booked a single room with Jet2 Was a little apprehensive after reading previous reviews but overall we had a good holiday but there were several negatives. Paid in excess of £1100 for a single room on an all inclusive basis, the room was a little small but spotlessly clean and had a free fridge, kettle and safety deposit box. However the view from the room wasn't the best, disappointing when you pay a lot of money. Spoke to several guests who had paid £600 each for a 4 night stay so almost double for an inferior view! Aircon was a necessity but only just adequate. We enjoyed the breakfast, not sure what previous guests expected but there was plenty of choice. Lunch again was very good but the dinner choices were sometimes disappointing, we felt the selection at lunch was better. Puddings were poor lots of cakes which all tasted the same. The all inclusive drinks are a bit limited, the beer and soft drinks were OK but the wine is terrible. I have never tasted anything so bad in over 50 years of holidaying abroad. Similarly the cocktails are dire. Great cocktails in the Irish bar which is part of the hotel but these are not included, however you do get a 10% discount. The cocktails on all inclusive are all pre mixed from a machine and 2 of them looked and tasted exactly the same. We found out on the last evening that we could have had cava but this was not advertised. On the last 2 evenings we opted to buy a bottle of wine but it wasn't the easiest thing to do. On both occasions we were made to feel like we were a nuisance and on both evenings we waited at least 30 minutes from entering the restaurant to actually having it brought to the table. The first time neither of the young staff could use a corkscrew and despite ordering rose he brought white wine! The only positive was the wines were not expensive. No evening entertainment which was a shame, hardly anyone uses the bar area in the evening it's just too quiet. Pool area very nice but a mad dash at 9 am when the pool opens to secure a bed and not enough sun shades. Lovely and quiet round the pool except on the weekend when over 50 Spanish guests arrived , the noise was ridiculous and there were different rules for them. Trays of beer were constantly being brought to the pool side for them but the rest of us were told to go to the hatch! No smoking signs very evident, but didnt apply to the locals. This hotel is clean and modern and has a lot of potential, it is in a great location and I would consider staying again but only on a bed and breakfast basis and only for a short break. The worst aspect is nothing allowed after breakfast on the last day if you are all inclusive particularly poor if you are not leaving until the evening. My sister in law arrived at midnight on the first day so no food or drink on the first day or the last.

A lovely clean hotel on the beach and next to the shops. Our room was smallish but very clean, lovely to have a fridge in our room. A kettle is provided but the used tea cups are not washed daily and you must remember to get your own milk from the bar. I felt it was worth the up grade of 15 euros pre person per day for the better drink package eg hand made cocktails instead of watery ones out of a machine. The day passes are a terrible idea, the hotel was full without shipping in extra guests especially those who don't know how to behave. I had no problem finding a sun bed but I did join the queue at 9 o'clock each morning. They are quite close together so you could be put in the shade by the next door's umbrella. The all inclusive package took a bit of getting use to, snacks at the snack bar were not included only in the restaurant. Breakfast and evening meal were excellent, a good selection. Food could have been slightly hotter and more labels on food contents. All staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, special shout out to Owen. Water and coffee stations around the hotel could free up quite a bit of time for the very busy staff. Overall a very enjoyable and pleasant stay, we are hoping to return

The hotel was spotless and the food was amazing, however this hotel is completely non smoking throughout and there is no entertainment at all.

We are still here , we are only 6 days into a 13 night stay. We had found this to overall be an excellent hotel. 5 days of a very relaxing atmosphere but within seconds of a lovely resort literally through the front entrance. We have found the food to be delicious, always plenty of choices. The staff have all been very pleasant. The room is again big enough for us and we have enough space for 2 women with 2 weeks worth of outfits. Everywhere is spotlessly cleaned and maintained and the downstairs of the hotel is beautifully furnished and smells lush. You do have to queue from 9 to get a sunbed. This has been normally fine and we had so far always got sunbeds but sadly not always a parasol. My friend burns very quickly and needs shade. She has not always been able to stay outside with me because of this which isn't good. It could be so easily resolved with just more parasols to be made available. My suggestion for the hotel would be to offer a premium all inclusive drinks package. Myself and my friend are happy to pay for better quality drinks which are not included in all inclusive. The wine is on tap out of a box so not great quality. I usually buy a bottle of red wine every night. However, other hotels have always offered this at a reduced AI cost and not the full price to all inclusive guests. The cheapest bottle of red wine is 25 euros. Its lovely wine and I have brought some bottles but I will not now do this every night at full price. The hotel would actually make money I think to have this as an option. Ironically,the Irish Bar which is part of the hotel give you a 10% discount. We have therefore spent more money with them buying drinks than at the hotel. Day 6 , the vibe today has completely changed. The hotel lets in people with day passes. Even though the hotel is clearly full , I am stunned they do this during peak season. The volume has been unbelievably loud, the pool hard to find space to swim with so many people in it and the sunbed situation was a nightmare today. I couldn't even hear my book listening to audible through my headphones, the volume of the people on day passes today was so loud and I am partially deaf ! There were many other unhappy guests today who we spoke with about the noise. I was also very shocked to hear about all inclusive guests who checked out this morning , to have their arm bands cut off even though some do not leave until late tonight. I think that is an extremely poor policy and I have never experienced this at any other hotel anywhere in the world. You have so many reasons this could be a resounding and outstanding hotel 5 star hotel but sadly I have taken off 2 stars for those reasons . We are very happy guests otherwise and would most certainly come back.

Nice, modern and clean hotel in a good location and close to the beach and shops. Staff were almost always polite. Room is cleaned daily if you request it using the door handle sign, although dirty glasses were left in our room for our entire stay and if we tidied up the bed they wouldn’t make it up. Food is fresh and was always enjoyable (shout out to the chefs!) staff were always seen out and about cleaning. The reception staff were so very helpful when my friend needed medical attention and directed us to the closest public hospital. A few things bothered me however, not enough sun loungers unless you’re willing to wait at 9am to reserve one, if you manage to get one later on you likely won’t be able to get an umbrella for it, no entertainment (one night bingo was on with around 6 guests in attendance and the prize was a free drink but we were all inclusive anyway), we were turned away from the bar for a drink at 23:04 on our first night not knowing the bar closed at 23:00, we asked for an empty bottle to be filled with water which was no problem any night we stayed except for one night when a different member of staff said ‘well I have turned the machine off’ but the other bartender did turn it back on for us and fill the bottle, lastly, our final day was Friday with our transfer booked at 17:00 however our all inclusive wristband was cut off at 11am, both me and my friend were extremely shocked at this and had never experienced all-inclusive ending 6 hours before being picked up to go home. For that reason we wouldn’t return. We like to be on holiday until we have to leave and not have to figure out what to do for 6 hours before we have to leave.
