The Island Hotel

The Island Hotel was pure luxury! The Island Hotel was an incredible stay from start to finish. The décor was luxurious, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us—friendly, helpful, and so knowledgeable. The bedrooms were really nice, modern, and spotlessly clean. The food was amazing, and the views from the restaurant at breakfast were a dream. We also tried the à la carte restaurant—absolutely stunning. The pools were great with plenty of loungers, and the spa was modern, peaceful, and totally relaxing. The bar at night, with a DJ playing chillout and club classics, created the perfect vibe, especially with the sea in the background. Watching the sunset over the beach was just exceptional. We’d definitely recommend it for couples. There are always great offers for hotel guests too!

Absolutely incredible second trip! This year we opted for a private pool suite which was spectacular. Located at the front of the hotel, you have a gorgeous sea view over the short lawn. The rooms are wonderful - spacious with a separate living room, four poster bedroom, big en suite and a gorgeous private patio and pool, including an in-water day bed. As with other rooms, they refresh your water daily, and tidy up the patio and sweep the pool early each morning. The aircon in the room was wonderful, much better than last year, I couldn’t fault it. It kept the room lovely and chilled even during the hottest days. So much in fact that at one point, we opted for a comforter! The private pool is chilly, so be prepared for that. I think due to the bigger size/more depth, and its sea facing so there is a breeze. However, it was absolutely usable - we swam all day. It was perfect to freshen up, but it was a bit of a shock jumping in after sitting in 30 degree sunshine. It wouldn’t detract us from these rooms, but it’s worth being aware. The in-water day bed was incredible and we spent pretty much all day every day lounging. Being pale and ginger, I was worried before our trip about getting burnt as the patios are huge and a total sun trap. We purchased some towel clips and hung them around the day bed creating a shady little nook, which was lovely and private. The spa was fantastic - the staff are so lovely, though be aware that spa etiquette and modesty may be slightly different to your home country. The food as always was fantastic, lots of variety, hot and plentiful. Top tip - if you don’t mind getting there early, arrive for 5:50, just before it opens. At that time, you can seat yourself and get a table with a wonderful sunset view. I cannot recommend enough going for an after dinner swim - we watched the sunset every evening from the beach. All in all, this hotel has become a happy little haven for us and we’re very much looking forward to returning for our next visit!

We stayed last summer and had a lovely week away. The food was great, the rooms were spacious and comfortable, and there was always a sun bed by the pool. The views at dinner and during the day were amazing, specially at sun set. We enjoyed the dj in the evening and had drinks by the bar most nights. It was a romantic trip and met our expectations! We would recommend for couples wanting a relaxed yet more classy trip in Crete!

From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the beauty of the hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean, room was nice with a comfortable bed. Good choice of pools and there was always a great selection of sunbeds available whichever pool we decided on. The afternoon DJ created a laid back atmosphere, making it even easier to relax. A special mention to the incredible hotel staff. When I unexpectedly experienced a recurrence of an old back injury, they were quick to assist me. Within 10 minutes, a doctor was on site, gave me an injection, and I was soon feeling back to normal. The care shown by all hotel staff was really impressive, and this alone made me book again for next year without hesitation. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and made sure to get down before 9am when there were always plenty of tables with stunning sea views. The breakfast selection was fantastic, with quality food and a great variety to choose from. In the evenings, we explored the local restaurants, which we highly recommend trying. The Medusa Restaurant, in particular, stood out with its excellent value, delicious food, and exceptionally friendly, attentive staff. All in all, this is the perfect place to escape the stress and fast pace of everyday life. If you’re looking to switch off, relax, and recharge, this hotel is absolutely ideal. We can't wait to go back

The hotel area is green and rich in trees and flowers, the gardens well-kept with lovely greek details. Many of the staff members are friendly and even heartwarming, from the friendly, always smiling lady in the hotel‘s souvenir shop to the courteous, attentive restaurant manager Mariana, who fulfilled all the guests wishes and handled every guests rush calm and friendly, as well as her team. All the sadder it was to have an unfriendly welcome and check-in by the arrival at the reception, not as we experienced in 2023. Thanks to Manager Eva, professional, competent and hospitable, we could clear up the unpleasant experience. The food (buffet) was good and carefully prepared. The rooms and the hotel were clean, the cleaning staff always friendly, exchanging a smile. The pool area is interisting and large and as a special enjoyment we could benefit from the good vibes DJ THEODORE K created for the guests during the daily afternoon pool party as well as in the evening at the „Tholos“ Bar. Instead of lame average sound he surprised us with a variety of really good music, bringing into harmony with guests, mood and occasion. He even fulfilled guests requests. We wouldn‘t want to miss… Beautiful beach, beautiful Crete. We had a nice holiday.
