HM Bavaro Beach

Beautiful resort. Beautiful views. Beautiful staff. Beautiful pool and food. Oceanview room is a must. Joane and the gentleman in reception were excellent! Bar and Restaurant staff were top notch. Food quality was top notch.

If you are looking for a non-all inclusive in Punta Cana/Bavaro this is one of the few available. We don’t usually like to eat at the same place so we thought this hotel would be good value. However, it fell short in many ways that may not be unique to this hotel but is a feature of Dominican Republic hotels (do your research and read reviews on TripAdvisor, Booking etc). We booked directly on the hotel website but in hindsight would have booked through other sources to get points as we did not get a significant discount or anything special by booking directly. Stayed 4 nights. Non-ocean view room facing the hotel’s Italian restaurant. We did get a bottle of champagne and fruit for our troubles (read Cons). Pros: - Adult-only beach that is steps away from the small lobby (extremely convenient). However keep in mind only a few feet away is the side of the beach that is designated for WhalaBavaro the hotel next door that DOES allow kids. - Infinity pool and ground floor pools were well-maintained and serviced with timely drinks - Location was good for walking around the neighborhood for restaurants, shops, pharmacy - Anima restaurant has dinner-time shows on Fridays (skip the pizza, the pastas are good) - WiFi was strong throughout the property - Security always present, felt safe even late at night - Air-conditioning in the room was excellent (runs all the time, a relief when coming back to the room) - Common areas were cleaned routinely - Never too crowded anywhere (big Pro, never have to wait for beach chairs or wake up early to grab one for the day) - Provided water bottles daily Cons: - No running water for a few hours EVERY day of our stay during the middle of the afternoon (we thought this was just our room but it’s actually throughout the entire hotel) Makes you wonder about your drinks/food and logistics like how rooms are cleaned…Granted most people would be out on excursions or on the beach but it’s definitely substandard for a 4* hotel not to have running water daily….especially when you have guests returning from early morning excursions that would like a shower. - Sewer water rose up from the outside shower near the front desk and flooded the whole lobby all the way to the beach (witnessed this one early morning as we watched the sunrise, unknown if this is a daily occurrence but the stench was nauseating for hours) - Price for value considering the overall experience was a bit poor

Great small hotel right on the beach. No long walks or buses like the large resorts. Exactly what we were looking for. Not super luxury but a perfect beach getaway. Adults only
