Riu Karamboa

I think there must be different levels of 5 star hotels but I wouldn’t say this hotel is anywhere near 5*. No waiter service, you either have to get your own beer, mixers, juice and water from the pumps in various locations around the hotel or queue at the bar. The quality of drinks, nothing branded is poor. I don’t drink beer often but that’s the best one in my opinion. On a Friday there is either a white or neon party night. Don’t even think you might get served or find a seat the place is heaving with people bussed in from other hotels. No doubt a quick buck in some way for the tour operators. I wouldn’t normally comment on other guests but I wouldn’t think it’s not too much to expect for people to take their glasses, plates with food they don’t eat to the bins. As a result, flies all over the place. Supposedly there are designated places for people to smoke and vape in the outside areas. That’s not the case. I personally wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

A fantastic hotel and 100% worth visiting. We stayed for 14 nights and loved it. Food was excellent, drink was fab and never short of a sunbed. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and plenty space on the balcony. Evening entertainment including the Friday night parties were superb and the staff throughout the hotel work exceptionally hard. Big shout to the reception team who gathered lots of supplies when I was ill one night and made sure I was okay. A couple things could be improved: Room floors werent cleaned daily however the rest of the room was made up lovely. The team were slow to respond or not reply at all via the Riu App however I do appreciate the hotel is huge! Would I come back? Yes if we were the type to visit the same hotel over and over. Keen to visit other parts of Cabo Verde. 🇨🇻 Thank you for a relaxing holiday

This was our first time to Boa Vista, like Sal it is a very windy island and the sun can be dangerous. The hotel staff were so friendly, all speaking English and they were very helpful. The food was excellent, a wide range of food in the buffet, the fish was amazing also with the freshly prepared salads. There are additional restaurants within the ground that you book through an app. They were always busy. At the pool, clean towels were available when ever you needed one and ground are impeccable. The fitness entertainment was provided to support everyone’s needs and abilities. There are plenty of loungers to go around. The beach was clean and the loungers are positioned under the palm trees for shade. The hotel has security 24/7, so you feel perfectly safe. The entertainment in the evening repeats after a week, the crew work very hard dancing. There are parties every Friday night, they are loud and good fun but if that’s not for you, the lobby has lots of seating and a bar where you can relax. There is hot drinks available as a self service. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit the Karamboa again.
