Quinta das Vistas Palace Gardens

The hotel was clean and rooms spacious. Pool was spotless and garden grounds were really pretty and well kept. Food was very good and all hotel staff were really pleasant and helpful. The hotel was very quiet and relaxing, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent hotel with superb views, beautifull garden, very nice but none-invasive scent all over and the most friendly staff providing excellent service!

We booked this hotel at 11pm at night when our flight was cancelled due to the weather in Madeira. We were worried that we wouldn’t be able to be checked in as it was midnight by the time we arrived but the staff were there ready to help all of us stranded passengers! The price was very reasonable and the staff were so lovely. The rooms clean and well maintained and the bed was so comfortable. We even managed to squeeze in a lovely breakfast and a swim in the pool before we had to leave for our rescheduled flight! Thank you Quinta for turning a slightly stressful situation into an amazing extra night in Madeira!

We were not impressed with the evening meal. In hindsight we should have gone B & B and eaten out each day but if we did this we would have had to use taxi's each way due to the steep 2km+ walk to the centre of Funchall. Room service was not reliable and I was surprised at the number of dead cockroaches every morning.

We have just returned home from lovely stay at Quinta Gardens. But will it be for you? One thing to consider is the location. It is about a mile uphill from the City Centre, which offers a great viewpoint and for those that want a more 'exclusive' feel to the more mainstream hotels in Funchal. This is a particularly apparent when having breakfast or by the outside pool, looking over the main area out to sea. We would advise taking taxis in most cases, as the road to the centre is steep and will even test the fittest. It can also be quite hairy as there is not conventional paths and the traffic tends to speed. Therefore as the taxis are priced reasonably, take them as much as you can. If you prefer to be right in the centre, this will not be for you. The hotel is more of a 4+ than a bone-fide 5 star. For example, our room did not have a shower cubicle, only a shower bath. Some countries prefer to have a bidet and this is no exception. The carpets were getting bit threadbare in places, so I think the hotel could do with some minor improvements to make it back to a 5 Star. However, it is cheaper than many other 5 Stars, so we cannot complain about what we paid. We mainly ate outside of the hotel, though she did have some food from the snack menu which is offered all day and evening, which is ideal for lunch or snacking by the pool. We only had an evening meal once and we sent one dish because it was cold. This was a shame as the room and views are lovely, so hopefully it was a one-off. There is parking available at I believe a £10 per day fee, so for those that want to explore the island this would be a great base. If you want to have a peaceful holiday, you could spend every day here quite happily or as we did, mixed our time between the hotel and other areas of Funchal, as well as exploring the Island. If we came back to Funchal, we would be happy to come here again.
