Veranda Grand Baie Hotel & Spa

What a wonderful stay! Mauritius has been beautiful and this hotel is lovely. The staff go above and beyond - no request is too much. They really do go the extra mile. Ajay and Sanjana are stand out awesome! Try Ajay’s coconut cocktails and Sanjana’s rum and cokes! The rooms are clean and tidy, and I love the decor - creole choc is really cool. The pool is great, and the beach is small but perfectly formed. We did B&B and the breakfast is really good. We’ve also tried the evening buffet, and have eaten in the A La Carte restaurant and both are good. The lunch options from the bar are very nice - the paninis are tasty and the pizza is great. There are lots of guest activities that are free, too, and they actively encourage participation in these, which is great. Stand outs are the leisure garden, and all the on water activities. I’d definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The check in procedure at the Veranda Grand Baie Hotel was efficient and we felt very welcomed to this charming establishment. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and this seemed the perfect place for it. We were exhausted after our journey and after a brief exploration of our immediate vicinity, retired to our room. We had booked an apartment, which was spacious, and had the added advantage of a kitchenette. At 11.30pm we were woken up by painful bites and intense itching. We checked on the bed and were horrified to see many insects crawling on the sheets . We immediately contacted the duty manager, who noted the same. There was no option, but to relocate to another room. The next 2 rooms we viewed were filthy, with hair , dirt and dust on the bedding. It was past midnight and we were exhausted, had incessant itching and were frustrated. They changed the bedding in the third room and our luggage was moved in. The next morning, we were introduced to the operational manager, Mr Ludovic. He was a very polite and respectful gentleman. He apologised for the distress that we were exposed to. He also stated that we will not be charged for the initial night stay and for the upgrade to the replacement room. This was supposed to be a dream celebration for us, but had commenced with a nightmare. This was my 10th visit to Mauritius, and this stay was disappointing.

Great spot, close to good restaurants and bars with great music. The hotel staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Lovely ambience, Princess Aurora is superb! Rooms very comfortable, decor is beautiful. 🤩 ☀️ 😎 Would recommend for families, friends or couples

Staff are generally indifferent and dining options (especially room service) are abysmal. Not a luxury option.

We stayed at Veranda Grand Baie for 2 weeks for our honeymoon. The welcome we received was so friendly and informative. We were gifted the honeymoon package on arrival, which included a meal at the Lazy Lobster and Prosecco & a fruit platter in our room! We were bed and breakfast guests but we ate at the restaurant twice and the Lazy Lobster twice. The food at the Lazy Lobster was phenomenal. The room was spacious and clean. We booked a one and a half hour couples massage at the hotel’s spa and it was amazing! I would really like to mention some special members of staff who made our stay the best it could be - Jerome, Jordan & Ajay were all so good at their jobs and really made our experience more than we could have hoped for. The free water activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding and much more were great fun! We went on a guided bicycle ride to the local sights with Jordan, which we enjoyed very much. He indulged us into the Mauritian culture, even buying us some local Mauritian food! The pool was perfect, as well as lounging on the sun beds on the beach. We would love to return to this hotel as we loved the location, culture, and friendliness.
