I rarely write reviews, but I have to warn others about my stay at Royalton Blue Waters Montego Bay, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort by Marriott. From the moment we arrived, it was a nightmare.
Before we even checked into our room, we were aggressively approached by a sales representative trying to sell memberships for the hotel. We arrived at 10:00 AM, excited to start our vacation, and were told our room wouldn’t be ready until 3:00 PM. When we finally got into our first room, it was 2:00 PM, and it was filthy. The sheets were dirty with stains on them, the sofa had stains, the shower was grimy, the door and door frame had stains, and there were stains on the walls. We were forced to switch rooms—completely unacceptable for any resort, especially one of this price and reputation.
The problems continued with the food. The quality was poor, and we even saw roaches in the restaurants. In one instance, a waitress dropped a glass, and it shattered all over me, getting into my clothes and hair. On top of that, my card was charged twice for the entire stay. One charge was completed, and the other was put on hold. I couldn’t access the funds on hold, and my bank said they couldn’t help; it was not on their end. When I contacted the resort, they said I just had to wait for the hold to fall off; they were unhelpful. This left my funds unavailable to use.
I was also part of the Diamond Club, which I expected to be a perk. However, the Diamond Club is located next to a swampy area that smelled awful, making it very unpleasant.
This resort is advertised as adults-only, yet we saw children in the restaurants and the club entertainment spaces.
The nightlife was extremely disappointing. The resort hosted a “silent party” where all guests were issued headphones to listen to the music. It was not entertaining, and most of the guests left early.
Between the unclean rooms, substandard dining, unsafe service in the restaurant, aggressive sales tactics, lackluster service, payment issues, poorly located Diamond Club, failure to enforce adults-only policies, and a non-existent nightlife experience, this stay was extremely disappointing. I cannot recommend this resort; Marriott seriously needs to step up their standards if they want to protect their brand.
