Heurigen Visit With Wine
You can toast to great views and wine on today’s tour. You’ll get to experience Vienna’s Heurigen first hand. Heuriger literally translates as ‘this year’s wine’, which should give you some idea of what’s in store. These cosy, family-run wine taverns serve their own locally produced plonk from the 700 hectares of vineyards that surround the city. First on the list today is a visit to Kahlenberg, where you can admire panoramic views of Vienna from a hilltop vantage point. After you’ve snapped some photos, we’ll move on to the age-old town of Grinzing, which is packed-full of Heurigen. Here, you can absorb the authentic Austrian atmosphere, tap your toes to traditional Viennese folk music and sample some local wine with bread and dips. Later, you’ll make the half-an-hour journey back to the city centre. Keep your eyes on the window, as you’ll get great views of some of Vienna's top sights after dark.
