This excursion puts some of Budapest’s standout sights in the spotlight. You’ll kick things off with a 90-minute journey to Hungary’s capital city. Then, follow your guide through the streets for a guided tour. Budapest had an architectural makeover in the 19th century, and you’ll pass by a platter of different styled buildings. Snap some photos of the Great-Gatsby-looking Hotel Gellert, and crane your neck at the National Museum – it looks like a newer version of the Pantheon in Rome. You’ll also learn about the Hungarian Revolution in 1958 during a visit to the Budapest Citadel – a 19th-century hilltop fortress. Soviet soldiers used the 60 artillery guns here to attack the rioting militia who fought in the city centre. Before you head back to the port, you’ll tick off a couple of Budapest’s temples, too, including the biggest synagogue in Europe – the Dohany Street Synagogue.
