Enjoy dramatic views of the island's dominating feature – the active volcano that towers above all else. With any luck, you'll get to witness one of its eruptions, known to the locals as the Sciara del fuoco – ‘Stream of fire'.Then it's on to soak up the charm of the pastel-coloured, thriving fishing port of Lipari – the largest town on the island of the same name. Your last stop on this is Vulcano, where you'll get to relax and take a dip in the hot waters warmed by sulphuric vapours from the seabed, in view of a steaming volcanic crater.
