Relaxation 101
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this very quiet and relaxing 4-star hotel – exactly what we were after. From the moment we arrived, where the hotel left a bottle of fizz for us to help celebrate our anniversary, we felt at ease. The transfer only took about 30 minutes, and the atmosphere at the hotel was calm and peaceful – no music blaring (the tunes were somewhat repeatative) or battles for sunbeds. Ideal for chatting or simply switching off in beautiful surroundings.
Room:
Our room was spacious, with loads of storage and a really comfortable bed. The air con was excellent, and the USB chargers by the bed were a thoughtful touch. The balcony had stunning views across the Atlantic to Fuerteventura – a great spot to sit out and take it all in. The bathroom was large and well-stocked with lovely products, though it's just starting to look a little tired and could do with a refresh soon. The shower was warm and powerful, but there was some black mould on the bottom of the screen that could be sorted with a bit of bleach. A couple of small niggles – no milk in the room, and the Nespresso pods weren’t replaced – but nothing that spoiled the stay.
Food & Drink:
Breakfast was superb – freshly cooked to order, with proper coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and even morning cava. The restaurant wasn’t open for lunch or dinner, but snacks at the pool bar were good, albeit limited – understandable given how quiet the pool area was. Cocktails were excellent and very well made. The bar shuts at 9pm, but we only really used it for a couple of hours in the afternoon anyway.
Staff:
This is where the hotel really shines. Raul, Paola, Johnny and Diani were absolutely brilliant – friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Housekeeping also did a fantastic job keeping the room clean and tidy. Genuinely great service all round.
Location:
Perfect location. Just five minutes from the Marina and around ten to Playa Blanca. Loads of bars and restaurants nearby, and a lovely promenade walk along the front. I hired a bike and cycled to the lighthouse and back most mornings – highly recommended. Easy access to Puerto Calero by bus or taxi too, if you fancy a change of scenery.
Other bits:
You can’t charge things to the room, which was a bit unusual but did make check-out very quick. The spa was a bit of a let-down – cold pool, cold hot tub, Turkish bath not working, and we didn’t try any treatments. Late check-out wasn’t available, so we used the spa showers – but that was a strange experience: no lock on the door, a tiny towel, no showerhead bracket, and the whole room flooded, soaking my stuff and suitcase. A frustrating half hour.
Overall:
A wonderfully quiet and relaxing 4-star hotel in a great location. Superb staff, comfortable rooms, and delicious breakfasts make it ideal for a peaceful break. While the spa and some minor maintenance could do with attention, overall it’s a lovely place to unwind. Would happily return.
