Fergus Style Carema Beach

We stayed in this hotel during the last week of October. Though the hotel and local area were coming to the end of season, there was still plenty of atmosphere and things to do. We had a wonderful room, with great views and fantastic facilities. All the staff were amazing. Every member of staff was polite, professional and warm. The locality and close proximity to the beach was a massive bonus. We cannot fault this hotel and we will definitely be back!

I would say it’s a 3.5 out of 5. It’s clean, the staff are friendly and the cleaners are amazing as they seem to work all hours. The food was 7 out of 10 for me so not too bad at all. It was very quiet around the pool so plenty of beds, although not sure how this would be in peak season. Also not sure how the restaurant would cope in peak season as it seemed quite full up on some nights, which was surprising as there weren’t many people during the day. We had a couple of heavy showers (which is not a complaint) but it did create a leak in the roof in the corner of restaurant which just had buckets below it. It was nice enough so I can’t be too critical; it probably just didn’t have enough for my kids. Certainly not a bad place at all, but I probably wouldn’t go back.

Travelled with our kids (7 and 3). We had booked another hotel with On The Beach who then tried to move our entire holiday with 3 weeks notice, we managed to keep our original booking for 6 nights and then were moved here Carema Beach for our final night. So we didn’t research or choose this hotel… and had a mixed experience, wouldn’t book it voluntarily. Good things- - rooms were clean, freshly decorated and well equipped. - reception staff were very helpful and polite - breakfast was nice and good variety -direct access to the beach was great, the beach is lovely if the sea isn’t too choppy. Bad things - Bar/restaurant staff (one in particular) extremely rude. She told my 3 year old off for squealing excitedly as he was playing (there was virtually no one else around, we were there the last week of season) and made him cry, he was so sad we had to leave the pool and go back to the room. She then accosted my husband as he was refilling water bottles at breakfast saying that she didn’t have his room Number in her list, and laughing like he was ‘in the wrong’ and hadn’t paid for breakfast. We raised the uncomfortable interactions with restaurant management who didn’t seem to care. - they make you pay for water. We arrived at 11am, the only place to refill water bottles is at breakfast the following day, it’s 2 euros per bottle (plastic!) - dinner was STONE COLD. And the selection was minimal. No drinks included in dinner, no sure if that’s normal or not, but dinner costs more than breakfast and drinks are included at breakfast.
