I’ve stayed at Acro twice in the past nine months, so I feel able to give a fair review. While our first visit was wonderful, the second left us deeply disappointed. First of all: when you come back again, no one will notice. Any hotel will greet you with a warm „welcome back“ but here no one even knew we were returning guests. This could be due to the fact, that except for a handful of people, the entire staff had been replaced between seasons. While everyone remained polite and friendly, several issues added up over time and led to real frustration. Acro shares many facilities (restaurants, main gym, tennis and paddle courts) with its neighboring sister resort Sea Side, which is all-inclusive. When both are fully booked, everything feels crowded. We had a confirmed two-hour paddle court slot (planned our day around it, even traveled with our own rackets), only to find it occupied by Sea Side guests. After waiting 40 minutes with no proper solution or gesture of hospitality, we were told we couldn’t play, not even rescheduled a two hour slot for the next day. The court was simply given to other guests. Another day, a drone from the Sea Side resort was flying directly in front of our terrace. Staff reacted quickly, but that same care wasn’t shown when we repeatedly asked for the music to be turned down. Loud, generic electronic music played non-stop, from breakfast to dinner, at the pool, in the bar. Despite several polite requests to lower the volume or change the playlist, nothing happened. For a wellness resort, the atmosphere felt more like a generic beach club. Smaller issues also added up: waiting 30 minutes for a breakfast table for four, no availability at restaurants and long wait times across the property. Individually, these things would have been manageable. No place will be perfect, humans make mistakes. But what truly impacted our experience was how our concerns were handled. We were repeatedly told things were being taken care of, only to be ignored or forgotten. We ended up spending a large part of our stay managing issues instead of relaxing. As a returning guest who has spent €10,000 here in under a year, I felt undervalued. The staff was kind and I am sure they put in a lot of effort but the overall experience no longer reflects a five-star standard. Having your privacy disturbed by drones and being denied access to the amenities Acro advertises, because Sea Side guests are prioritized, is not the experience this hotel claims to offer. That being said, I know from experience that staff is rarely the issue, but higher management is. Cutting costs where it matters often is an issue. I know people on the premises do their best. The location is stunning, the views are incredible, the rooms are beautiful and their spa experience is one of the best I ever had (but also here only two massage rooms for the entire hotel, which means mostly no availabilities). Design and architecture are 10/10, exactly what you see on Instagram. What you don’t see is how much the actual experience now lacks personal attention but feels overcrowded and far from the promise of a luxury wellness escape.

Everything was a problem! When we arrived, we were barely greeted, and sat for almost 30 minutes waiting to be checked in. Offered a few sips of an herbal drink, not Champagne or a cocktail, as in all of the other resorts we visited. We arrived around 5:00 pm and asked for a dinner reservation, and were told “It might be full- we require reservations”. I pushed back, saying "we’re staying at the hotel, you NEED to feed us”…and they "found" a reservation for us. The same thing happened on our last night, and when we arrived at the table that we had to BEG for, there were 5 EMPTY tables! If advanced reservations are necessary- advise the guests BEFORE arrival. We requested a corkscrew to the room after visiting wineries that the Sommelier recommended, and were told the hotel didn’t have extras and we could use it while the boy waited and give it immediately back. NO! We were not planning to open all of the bottles at that time! So we kept it, and closed the door. My husband ordered a MEDIUM RARE burger- It arrived WELL DONE no. Nobody returned to the table to check how our food was, so he ate half and discarded the rest. Julia and others at the front desk were miserable- condescending and off-putting. They never greeted us when we entered the lobby, never smiled, and took their time offering help when we stood at the desk. Many of the employees in the dining room were robotic…only one person could pour water, only one could take an order, and yet another would deliver the food. When I asked for an additional espresso shot, the “captain” questioned Why? None of his business- just BRING IT. Very surprising that the only phone in our suite was upstairs…if we wanted to call the buggy we had to go upstairs. Also, there were very few outlets…to charge our phones, we needed to be upstairs or unplug the light in our (very dark) lower room. Not user friendly. The window in the shower was also ODD. None of these are attributes I would expect from a hotel with a Michelin Key! The proper answer in all hotels that we visit, is “Not a problem”. But at Acro, everything is a problem. We will not return nor recommend.
