We’ve traveled extensively and stayed at many 5-star resorts for both work and leisure. If you’re an Instagram influencer looking to boost your clout, this place might work for you. But if you have any taste, avoid this hotel at all costs. Here’s why: • Extra Charges: Want to use the sauna or steam room? That’s extra. 70EUR per person. Want both eggs and pancakes for breakfast? Again, extra—it’s one dish per person. Oh, and breakfast ends at 10:45, not 11 like almost every other 5 star that’s meant for leisure vacation - why is this even a notable mention you ask? Because they are trying to cost cut at every corner with operating procedures. 15 minutes less means faster transition time to operating lunch at the same restaurant. Maybe a PE firm bought the hotel and gave them great advice for increasing margins, but poor advice for hotel guest satisfaction. Oh and if you like to use bars of soap, sorry not included — they’re far more expensive to replace than liquid. • Inconveniences: You can’t take a towel from the sauna to your room… so prepare to walk back cold. Little things like this add up. • Can’t Reach Them: Phone lines are constantly busy, making it nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone. • Room Cleanliness: While the rooms are nice, cleanliness is lacking—a 2/5 at best. We found others’ hair in the shower, and dishes were left uncleaned in the morning. • Unhappy Staff: As a business owner, it’s clear the staff is frustrated, likely due to cost-cutting measures and unhappy guests. Their tone often preempts complaints, which says a lot. It’s managements fault, not theirs… but ultimately as a guest it’s not your responsibility to decipher that. SLH Certification: We’re shocked and disappointed that Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) accredited this place. We’ve stayed at other SLH properties and had wonderful experiences, but this one does not live up to the brand’s standards. No Feedback Loop: There’s no communication between guests and management, and it shows. Picturesque? Sure. But there are plenty of hotels on Crete with the same stunning views and much better service at the same price.

I had high hopes for this hotel, but my stay was an absolute nightmare. If you’re considering booking here, do yourself a favor and cancel immediately. Here’s why: 1. Terrible Communication and Zero Accommodation I had to rebook my flight and arrive earlier than planned. I notified the hotel well in advance of my new arrival time. Despite multiple emails and calls, they flat-out refused to accommodate me or even acknowledge my request. They didn’t even ask for my name when I called! Their response? “Your booking is for the 9th”—without even listening to my situation. Completely dismissive and unhelpful. 2. Insanely Expensive “Solutions” The only “help” they offered was to book a villa for €1,700 or stay at a sister hotel for €500, plus €50 for transport. This was after they left me stranded at 2:30 AM without a place to stay. Ridiculous pricing for a problem they created. 3. Stranded Alone at 2:30 AM As a solo female traveler, the hotel’s lack of care put me in a dangerous situation. They refused to help me find alternative accommodation or offer any solution, leaving me to fend for myself in the middle of the night with no taxis or options available. Unacceptable and unsafe. 4. Shocking Spa Experience Even at the spa, things went wrong. Despite this being a supposed 5-star hotel, I was humiliated when I tried to use the sauna and jacuzzi, only to be told I had to pay extra—something that was never communicated at any point. The lack of transparency is astounding. 5. Denied Basic Services The hotel’s dining situation was also a disaster. I wanted to order food from their Greek tavern-style restaurant, but they refused to serve me because it was from their “sister hotel.” Even though I’m paying for a luxury stay, they claimed they couldn’t deliver because they didn’t have enough food and were fully booked. No food, no alternatives, no service. 6. Total Lack of Care or Empathy What made everything worse was the complete lack of empathy from the staff. No matter what issue I brought up, I was met with indifference. They didn’t care about helping me, resolving the problems, or even offering basic hospitality. It felt like they were only interested in upselling expensive alternatives, with no regard for guest comfort or satisfaction. Final Thoughts: This hotel completely ruined what should have been a relaxing vacation. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Poor communication, lack of service, ridiculous pricing, and a dangerous disregard for guest safety. If you value your peace of mind, safety, and wallet, find another place to stay. There are much better options out there.
