I must first of all say, that the reception staff deserve 5 stars. They were all extremely helpful and lovely. I’d read the negative reviews about the area but it’s not really that bad if you are used to city life. It’s opposite a Police Station for anyone who feels nervous about seeing homeless people and some druggies. I had an urban balcony room on the seventh floor which was a little smaller than I expected. There was hardly any room to have a suitcase open. The wardrobe space was an open rack over the desk area but there were a couple of coat hooks on the wall . I’m not too sure what the design style was meant to be (industrial chic?) but it reminded me of a old government building that I worked in during the 1980s. The walls were a rough unfinished plaster style. The bed was very comfortable and the balcony was a bonus. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner but it wasn’t off putting. On my second day, the cleaner left a soaking wet towel (it wasn’t one I’d used) on the floor next to my open case. As it was quite late, I moved it to the balcony. On my check out day around 9.20am the cleaner opened the door while I was getting dressed. There is a digital safe and a coffee machine but no kettle. However, you can get hot water from the breakfast area on the first floor. I didn’t pay for breakfast as there are numerous places to eat nearby. There’s also a supermarket about 5 minutes away where you can breakfast items and store them in your mini fridge. Slippers were provided but no robe. I believe it was subject to availability. The towels were clean but noticeably frayed. The flooring was a concrete cement mix, I think and looked unfinished. There’s a cute record player which I didn’t get to use unfortunately. The lift was tiny and quite claustrophobic. I think it only holds about 3 people. I think my biggest issue with this hotel was the cost. It was around £154 a night and I didn’t feel it was worth it. In my opinion it’s worth around £80-£100 per night. It’s very close to Omonia metro station, which takes you to the airport with only 1 interchange. It’s within walking distance of Monastiraki, the Acropolis and hop on hop off bus stop. I was unable to stay at the same hotel as my friends it was already fully booked. I would book this hotel again but only at lower price. Don’t let the negative reviews about the area being unsafe put you off. Maybe it’s because I’m a hardened Londoner but I felt completely safe.

My partner and I had an absolutely amazing time at Dave Red Athens. From start to finish, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We arrived after an early flight and were greeted with an ice cold lobby and a smiley staff member; both were very welcome (it was 30 degrees Celsius outside)! We were allowed an early check in, which we were very grateful for. The room was spotless, and equipped with everything we needed. Our room was serviced daily by the housekeeping team - who did an excellent job. Every morning, we had a delicious breakfast served by an incredibly friendly breakfast team. It was a great start to each day while on holiday. The hotel is located a few minutes way from a Metro underground station, so if you don’t fancy the 15 minute walk to the Acropolis, you have other option. Please disregard the reviews about the area being undesirable. You’re in a capital city - what did you expect? It is no worse than the centre of Paris or Rome. While there are some people down on their luck near the hotel, they didn’t bother us once. Furthermore, even if they had, I don’t see how you can rate a hotel poorly because of this. It is not the fault of the lovely hotel team who looked after us to the best of their ability. Would definitely return! Thankyou.
