Landmar Costa Los Gigantes Family Resort

As with all hotels there are always negatives however the negatives did not take away from the experience and enjoyment we had when visiting here. We stayed here for 7 nights over Easter with a 7 and 9 year old and grandparents. The kids were upset to leave, and the grandparents came home very happy (first time abroad). We would consider coming back to this hotel again. Positives: Short walk from the beach. My kids were fascinated that this was a black beach. We also managed to see crabs and lizards on the rocked area. Again the kids found this great to see. Near the end of the holiday my youngest decided he wanted to go to the kids club. He loved it! However there wasn't a club for my 9 year old to try. We were so surprised at the range of food available. I have been all inclusive before and find the food is mainly the same each night with maybe 1 or 2 items 'themed'. Here I found it the other way around. Yes there were some foods the same most/all days however I did find I ate something different every day. Easter was great, chocolate fountain and Easter eggs. We also really enjoyed the Canarian Stew (shame it was only there 1 night). There were plenty of sunbeds but if you wanted one near the pool you would have to go to them early morning due to the amount of 'reserved' sunbeds. It is said this is not allowed and we did see staff take some towels away each morning, however they seemed to take random towels away. Not sure how they chose which ones to take away. Kids loved the slide! Shame is was for kids only! On the last day the kids said that they could feel something sharp on the slide, it appears that some of the paint is coming off the slide and was resulting in there being a section with a sharp feeling. Hopefully this has been picked up by the hotel and being fixed. Entertainment - there was some good entertainment at night time. There were strikes for 2 of the days we were there and the entertainment did change for those days. After that the entertainment was pretty good. The bar measures are something else! Be aware if you ask for a spirit you get half a glass! We wasn't too keen on the cocktails and the sangria due to the measures. It took away the flavour of the juices due to too much spirits or wine into them. Negatives: The bed is made by 2 beds pushed together as I've seen many times before. However, these beds were also made up like separate beds i.e. 2 lots of bedding. They were also on wheels and kept sliding around. Not ideal. We entered our room and were pleasantly surprised to find a kettle, a coffee machine l, refreshments and bottles of water. The tea/milk/coffee were never replaced on our whole holiday. Once we used them that was it. I found this quite strange. Due to the size and location of the hotel, there are a number of lifts. Some of these were our of order but there were no signs to say this and no indication of when they would be fixed. The 'quiet' pool was cold. We tried it out but just found it too uncomfortable to stay in it. It may have been only a few degrees cooler than the other pools but it was not comfortable. The snack bar by the 'quiet' pool was a great area however the birds were an issue. He food area was not always manned and on several occasions we saw the birds eating the food from the paella dishes or the shelves. The birds can't be prevented but the hotel needs to look into preventative measures to stop them getting to the food.

L'hôtel est parfait. La cuisine y est très bonne ce qui est rare dans les services tout inclus. Adapté aux familles, il y a des activités pour tous les âges. La vue est magnifique. Boire un cocktail face à la mer avec musique c'est royal ! Personnel vraiment agréable, serviable et souriant. Agréable surprise pour notre dernier jour de recevoir une bouteille de vin mousseux Cava à déguster sur notre terrasse

Average hotel with some improvements required before I would return. At first sight it seems to be an attractive lobby and beautiful views over the sea from a distance. Our first gripe was with the suite. The furniture was a bit shabby (chipped paint and looked tired). Beds in main room weren’t clipped together and casters were broken so it kepts sliding apart. Not ideal as a couple. Pillows were really tired and needed replacing.. also they were a bit stingy. I need at least 2 pillows and there was one spare but kids pillows were so thin and only one provided. Kids quarters were the sitting room off the main bedroom. Beds were ok for kids but very uncomfortable. My husband slept in there on occasion due to snoring and he woke up with such bad back pain. The room had a musty smell to it also. Rooms were clean and cleaned daily but nothing out of the ordinary but had no gripes with cleanliness. Shower was getting blocked however and had to run the shower head slow to avoid it flooding the bathroom! Cannot comment on the A la Carte. Most all inclusive you get an a la carte meal included but not at this hotel. Couldn’t even book in. Tried to walk in one night as it opened. There were ample tables and no queues. We’re turned away and told to book between 10-2 at reception which was a disappointment. There were meant to be 2 buffet style restaurants but most nights I could only see one open. We therefore had to dine here all week… too repetitive. Must do better. Snacks were a bit limited. Pots of cheap ice cream but nothing else. Just main food like chips/ burgers/ chicken nuggets/ salad and wraps served at the snack bar. That’s if you could tolerate sharing your meal with a dozen pigeons and birds. Not to mention flies! All over the food. We only ate when it was fresh out. Pools were clean. No issues. Plenty of loungers. Some could be hired at a premium. Access to spa was not included. We were told we had to pay to enter.. again as all inclusive this is shocking. Children play area boated a sort of tree top adventure (think a small go ape). It was conveniently out of order the week we stayed. So cannot comment on that one! All in all. Weather and family made this holiday but would not return. Sorry.
