I've been at the Hotel Weisslahnbad with my family (me, wife +2 children age 8-11) for the end of year 2014 vacation for 1 week and it's been a really relaxing stay at this beautiful and historic wellness hotel. Amazing location in front of the Rosengarten (Catinaccio) dolomites, with breathtaking views of the most beautiful mountains of the world, peaceful environment, for both summer and winter stay. A lot of trekking routes available for summer and nearby ski facilities (20-30' by car/bus to Seiser Alm/Alpe di Siusi or Karess See/Carezza-Passo Costalunga) for winter. the Hotel is a really nice facility, with covered garage, depot for skis, sauna and wellness area, very nice swimming pool (which the boys enjoyed most!), bar and large restaurant area: good choice for buffet breakfast and very good dinner, we've had also the opportunity of tasting the new year's eve dinner. only point not so good is the distance from a town center where to have a walk and make shopping - you'd need to move as well by car to do it. special mention for romm nr.29 which has a very large closed "veranda" (porch) where the kids had plenty of space for playing, and which lets you have a sight towards the Rosengarten. Very helpful, friendly and smiling owners and staff (we forgot some clothes when leaving and they sent them over). Would be willing to return in the summer... :)

The hotel is probably the oldest of the area, as it was built in 1811 for servicing the thermal baths. But the current shape was attained at the end of the 19th century, with the birth of the hiking tourism as a second tier offer to the Carezza Grand Hotel a few miles away. Then as now it seems to have been the first choice for people that could afford the grand hotel but preferred more relaxed surrounding in the best location for hiking, as the king of Saxonia was a frequent guest. Because of this history the rooms are huge, and today they are completely renovated. Gone is the dark room of the heyday where guests could develop their own photographs, in is the sauna and a small swimming pool fed with the thermal "miracoulous" waters. One of the highlights is the renting of e-bikes at a very reasonable price, even if no biker with an e-bike you can tackle the hardest climb and roam around. Ask for a room with a balcony and the best view of the Rosengarten you can get anywhere, and you will be able to watch the mountain turn red at sunset when the garden of rose of King Laurin is once again revealed.

My extended family met here for a skiing and hiking weekend. We choose it for the pool/sauna and accessibility to the skiing. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly hotel owner. Food simple, well cooked and delicious. Newly refurbished throughout, with large quiet bedrooms, comfortable beds and a warm swimming pool. I came by bus from Bozen and the hotel minibus was at the bus stop waiting for me when I arrived as the hotel is 1km uphill from the road. The ski bus was 15 minutes to the slopes and again we got dropped to the bus stop and collected at the end of the day no problem. Great walking routes direct from the hotel. I left early on Sunday and the hotel were able to arrange the ski bus to drive me to Bolzano in 35 minutes as a taxi for €50. We had a great stay despite relentless snow which obscured the views. It's a lovely quiet hotel with great amenities.

After reading a few comments reporting from holidays spent at Dolomitenhotel Weisslahnbad, we decided to go for a 4-night stay at Lavina Bianca, near to Tires al Catinaccio (Rosengarten). We looked for a reasonable price, yet not giving up on being pampered, once back from the slopes, by finding a whirlpool, a sauna, an indoor pool and maybe some gym equipment, together with wooden tyrol-style furnitures, room cleanness and, of course, good food for breakfast and dinner. Eventually we found anything we expected at Weisslahnbad (except from the fully-fledged whirlpool and mild temperature for the pool water). Even more than that! In fact, the staff was also very warm and friendly. Moreover, we liked the availability of a secured underground garage to park the car. The sauna premises were tiny, yet comfy and well kept and clean. As I anticipated, the beautiful tiny pool couldn’t boast a water temperature that actually allows very relaxed baths. However we saw kids having a lot of fun, and the mild temperature hardly prevented them from playing with their parents or friends. Please note that opening hours allow guests to use the pool from 7,00AM till 10PM! So it becomes possible to take a swim in the quiet early hours before having breakfast. For instance, I managed to have my usual mini-swim session churning up a 9-stroke swim following the diagonal path from one end to the other… and I could live up with such, as, at the and of the day, I was in vacation… As of the room we were given… that was the best we could imagine! Spacious, very clean and completely noiseless, with bathroom services comfortably split in two as well as a space where to set all our luggages. The place was one found at the 4th floor, just under the roof and was endowed with a large balcony. Unfortunately, the view from the windows wouldn’t permit to be constantly captivated by the beauty of the Catinaccio peaks. They served us good food each evening, in a pleasing and quiet ambiance, with each guest table fairly distant from the neighbouring ones. Also the breakfast was more than adequate. One can’t help but admire the beautiful round table that embellishes the lunchroom. On the table we especially appreciated to find homemade jams, good wholegrain types of breads and yogurts. We just missed a bit the availability of a better orange juice, fresh fruits and maybe any of homemade cakes that are so popular in Tyrol. The hotel is located 1Km away from the Tires village and 15’ drive from the nearest slopes of Frommer/Lauris Karersee spot. The Weisslahnbad is one accommodation we’d highly suggest especially when you are in search of a truly value-for-money 3-star hotel with SPA facilities including an indoor pool and that guarantees fine served food and a pleasant mountain-style atmosphere.
