Pestana Delfim All Inclusive Beach & Golf Hotel

Our overall stay was good, shame the weather was cold. Alvor is a windy place and was cold for beginning of May this year so I was told! The pools are very cold, my son wouldn’t go in which was a real shame! We walked down to the beach most days, fantastic soft sand which is ideal for families. A few things that annoyed me was no salt or pepper on the tables… you’ve spent ages finding your breakfast to then sit down and realise you’ve no salt 🙈. The Coral snack bar food.. well the sandwiches would be left out all afternoon and the bread would curl. That’s not a 4 star plus hotel! The food in the main restaurant was good, some days the fish was hard and dry. I ate mainly salad chips and cheese due to not having many things I liked. Breakfast was alway spot on. The rooms were spacious and we did find quite a lot of dust under the beds from looking for my son’s ball all week! Lots of fun things, golf, tennis and the football court. The kids play room was like a fridge, we had an hour in there where we met a lovely lad with curly brown hair! The highlight of the holiday was the blue Tiger who came to meet all the children in the food hall 💙

Sadly I cannot give a 5* review . Expecting a 5* hotel as advertised but getting a 3* at best was somewhat disappointing. The hotel has a good position and lovely outlook but the lack of service was noticeable. On the plus side the hotel was clean - the bedrooms particularly. There were however instances of used glasses just left in common areas for hours, and spills not cleaned up for over 24hrs. The beds comfortable but noise from surrounding rooms was not so good! The fact that every door had to be slammed to get them shut didn’t help particularly at midnight. Loved the balcony but a drying rack for wet clothes/towels would have been handy. And then we come to food and drink! Quite unbelievable that in this 5* (?) hotel there wasn’t a coffee maker in the room - only a couple of sachets of Nescafé. One bottle of water and two mini cartons of juice in the fridge ?- surely they could do better than that! Despite all the critical reviews over the past year or so the food in the restaurants was still cold! Chewy cold chips are not at all appetising. Sandwiches in Coral bar left uncovered and curled up at the edges - hygienic & appetising? NO! Can someone explain why there was as much self service wine or beer or fizzy pop as you wanted available but no dispenser for still and sparkling water in the bars. The rate of replenishment of food was slow at best as was the replacement of cups, bowls & glasses. I waited 5mins for a cereal bowl and another 5 for milk! It would have been very nice to have had a quiet lounge and bar as not every one is partial to constant banging music which could be heard clearly in the rooms of an evening. I don’t think this hotel was right for us but may very well suit others.

Really pleasant experience staff are friendly room is perfect for me and the Mrs with balcony all inclusive as well. Everything is within walking distance. For whoever is thinking about it definitely do it I don't think you would regret it.

Just got back from a lovely stay. Took a while to get there from airport but once we arrived we were checked in and see the room within 10 minutes. The room was clean and nicely done. Comfy bed. The food was good we tried all three restaurants. We tended to eat at the buffet restaurant as it was good and convenient. Pool was warm and we managed to get a lounger everyday. The beach was a short walk away but it was worth it. We also had some beautiful weather. The golf courses looked great I wish I had brought my clubs, although you can hire some but it's not the same. Yes we would go back.

We have just got back from a week away at this hotel, there was 6 of us, 4 adults & 2 toddlers aged 19 months. The hotel was absolutely spot on including it being clean and tidy and was always kept on top of. There was a wide range of drinks to choose from including alcoholic drinks & mocktails, and help yourself juices, hot drinks & fizzy drinks. The rooms were nice, big & spacious. There are 16 floors in total and we were on the 8th floor with a toddler. Make note of the lift's to the room you have to swipe you're room card to go up and it will tell you which lift to get, B,C,or D you can't just choose any lift. I think it's a clever system but some people just have no idea what's going on which made it difficult sometimes. However there are some things I would like to make people aware of and address. Firstly, the big thing for us was the food, as it was hit and miss and was based a lot around seafood and in sauces, and there wasn’t many options apart from that. You cannot go wrong with breakfast as there was a lot to choose from but it was the same thing every time. There are 2 special restaurants one is a surf n turf and one is an Italian, the Italian was beautiful and the pizzas are made fresh in-front of you in the kitchen. We cannot comment on the other one as we did not attend that one. The kids food choice corner was a bland selection of mainly chips & rice and sometimes chicken. We did eat out around 3 or 4 times for lunch in our week stay as we wanted a change of atmosphere and food choices. The old town along the board walk takes about 20/25 minutes and there is a wide range of eateries and shops/gift shops. Secondly, the evening entertainment was okay but not the best, as we had 2 toddlers with us the mini disco was the highlight of the evening for us as the kids loved it even if it was the same songs for them. The bingo was again ok, the prizes were a bottle of fizz and a bag of the hotel. Another big thing was the pools. OMG. They were freezing cold. We went in the pool once out of 7 days as none of us could tolerate the pools which was really disappointing as we had to find other things to entertain the children with. The children’s swimming pool & park area was always cold as it was shaded by the hotel building which is another downfall. Towards the end of our holiday we realised that my partner’s jewellery was missing from the room, 3 gold items. When we mentioned it to staff on checking out they did not seem to care that much and said they will send me an email in which I am still awaiting for. overall, you cannot go wrong with this hotel other than you need to be brave to get in the pool due to the temperature and be wary that the food was not the best and not up to 4/5 star. I think if we were to attend we would choose self catering due to the options in the hotel and there being more options outside in the towns.
