Hotel Sommerhof

My wife and I were keen to visit the Salzkammergut area for a walking holiday and chose the Sommerhof for its location and indeed that was a good decision as we were able to readily visit other locations in the region. The hotel looked after us well; the staff were personable and we were 'fed and watered' to a high standard. Our room ( 205 ) was comfortable and overlooked the garden and swimming pool. I enjoyed the pool and sauna facilities. What we had not taken on board is this is very much a family oriented hotel and there were plenty of rather noisy children staying as many of the German and Austrian schools had yet to return. The dining room is somewhat echoy with no soft surfaces to cushion noise and the level of noise was a wee bit uncomfortable for the older guests with no children in tow. We had a great stay at the hotel but if you are looking for some peace and quiet it may be best to seek an alternative hotel that is not so family focussed.

We had a wonderful stay at the Sommerhof hotel. The staff was really nice with us and our kids, the hotel is very clean and all the amenities are very useful. The food at the restaurant is also very good and the service perfect! We strongly recommand staying at this hotel with your kids.

Nice room but no A/C outside temp was around 10 degress Celsius at night and still very hot in the room, only one pillow and not the quality u expect in Austria. Minibar empty not even a bottle of water in the room and sure no coffee machine. Big desk for my computer but no bin to put my trash in only in the bathroom. Shower and the whole floor was wet. Dinner incl in roomprice but this night was buffet with Lamb, Small fish and beef cooked in wine not tender, very dissapointed. Sauna/poolarea very small and looked old. Not what we expected for 326 Euro.

I really enjoyed a great family-holiday at the Hotel Sommerhof. We spent some relaxing days over there. The Hotel has a lot to offer for kids - climbing wall, ball pool and even an own cinema. Therefore my husband and myself could enjoy a nice glass of whine (great selection!), while the kids were having an amazing time downstairs watching a movie. We definitely will come back - next time for a skiing holiday, because the facilities therefore are perfect too. We can only recommend this family-driven, enchanting Hotel in the lovely mountain-region called Gosau (Salzkammergut).

Nice hotel, lovely staff, great meals. Good pool area and activity rooms. Can all in all absolutely recommend this place. Close to the lift. Rooms are spacious and clean. Ski depot right next to the lift included. The meals were plenty and very tasteful and varied
