We had a week here as family, three adults, two grandparents and two young adults (18 and 22). The first thing that stands out is the hotel was very clean and our room was cleaned every day. The second thing is the staff in this hotel we thought were the friendliest we have ever come across in a hotel (vs Spain, Balaerics, Canaries, Egypt, Italy and USA). So there was a good selection of food at Breakfast, lunch and Dinner which reflects the diverse clientele (UK, lots of Europeans, Canadians and Also some locals). E.G., always some salads, vegetables, cold meats. Cheeses, breads, fish and poultry, meat dishes. There is one pool with a swim up pool bar and also a bar on the beach which is a 1 minute walk from the pool. A couple of hints, we used uk cash (there is a safe in the room) to change Tunisian Diners as we were advised not to use cards in the shops. It is also advisable to change remaining currency back before you leave for the airport as they ask you not to take currency out the country. We took a taxi to the local Médina market. We were advised we may get a couple of locals come up to us and say they worked in the hotel and they recognised us and offer to show us around. This happened, we said no thank you firmly and they walked off. We were also advised to keep wallets in front pockets and bags in front of you but didn’t haven’t have any problems. There are lots of stalls selling a variety of stuff, eg fruits, face oils, perfumes, sports gear, footy tops. The shop owners try to entice you in, but again we said no thank you and moved on, they were generally a lot politer and well mannered than Egyptian shopkeepers. My wife found a really nice silver/ gemstone shop called ‘King Silver’ so would recommend this if you like this type of jewellery (it’s the other side of the mosque). One other little hint, if you walk to the top of the road outside the hotel, and turn right there is a market called ‘Carthage Big Bazaar’ some of the stuff you find at the market including man bags and face creams were a bit cheaper here than the market (it is also fixed price so no haggling). Also, just before this shop there is a glass elevator up to Bellini roof bar, we had a visit here which made a change. About £5 for 2 bottles of Heineken and £8 for a cocktail. Would recommend this for a change and nice view. My wife and I did one trip, this was to a mosaic museum, Carthage and the Tunisian Santorini (Sidi Bou Said). We enjoyed Sidi Bou Said the most, because we were one of the first pick ups it was about 2 and 1/2 hours there and back. Overall we had a great time.
