We are an English family and have just returned from a 2 week holiday at this resort. Even though we had a lovely holiday, there were pros and cons which should be highlighted as it is graded 5 star, which personally I do not feel is justified. Pros: Restaurants provided a good variety of food options. Guest Services were excellent. Firstly, attending to repair a broken safe and then booking us into the Italian after 10 days of trying. The Japanese restaurant was a particular favourite, brilliant atmosphere and excellent food. The layout of the resort was really good, everything easily accessible. The gym was very well equipped even though the air-conditioning was not brilliant. The majority of staff were helpful and attentive. The corridors, toilets, and pool areas were clean. Beach is very accessible with shallow water. Cons: Martha's market buffet service was very hit and miss. Drinks order would be taken but often would take ages to appear. Coffee shop service was slow, resulting in long queues. Also some staff were miserable. My 16-year-old was refused a Frappucino because of his age!!! Hygiene in the pool was limited. Staff were not seen cleaning the pool thoroughly. A person vomited in the pool, and it was closed. However, the signage kept blowing down, so people would not have been aware, and no staff were seen cleaning it afterwards. On the last day, we were approached by 3 staff members asking us to write a review on Google. However, they remained with us whilst writing it and tried to dictate the star grade and comments and then asked us to post it whilst they were present. My advice is to ignore these reviews. Booking the Italian and Japenese was problematic as Privilege guests had priority, which often resulted in these restaurants being fully booked even though we'd logged in at 8am to book. There was a constant smell of cannabis across the resort. Only Privilege guests can get branded drinks Sun loungers around the main pool needed to be secured at 5.30pm. Limited sun shade around the pool as no parasols. The spa was reasonable with a hydropool, steam room, and sauna. However, the plunge pools were not working, and in the relaxation room, even though tea was provided, there was no hot water or milk. When we asked for these, the staff seemed very put out. Spa treatments are very expensive. There was limited bar service around the pool, sports bar, and lobby areas.

This was my first trip to Jamaica and overall I'm very happy with my stay at Ocean Coral Spring but... I've also had some bad experiences at this resort... Let's start with the positives: 1. The hotel is very nice and well-kept. Rooms spacious and very comfortable. 2. Varied and very tasty meals. 3. Staff mostly helpful and nice. 4. Fantastic lazy river At this point I have to say that I would like to give the Hotel 5* but... : 1. The beach is very small and rocky and the water is very shallow, so if you dream of swimming in the sea, you must choose another resort 2. The drinks were mostly very weak and two days before the end of our stay, the resort ran out of beer! And this is not the end ... because on the last day of our stay there was no rum and other alcohol in the bars so they could not prepare any drinks properly! There was frustration among the staff. 3. I have heard many times from employees that Jamaican time applies in Jamaica, which means that no one is in a hurry and stressed ... And this is very cool, but it often does not apply to hotel guests who have to give their room number at every step! The beach bar was supposed to be open from 10am to 6pm and was often closed by 5am. Same thing with changing towels... So to sum up this topic - it would be nice if hotel guests could experience relaxation and lack of stress and that employees would try to be helpful in this. 4. In the salad that was on my plate, I found a rather large and moving caterpillar! It was a terrible experience! We showed the caterpillar to the lady from the service and she to her supervisor ... and I was hoping for some excuse but I was very disappointed. The manager approached me and asked for my room number (of course) and name and if I would be at breakfast the next day. I was at breakfast but he wasn't there! Later, he approached me in a coffee shop and again vaguely promised something and told me he would talk to me at breakfast the next day. And again - I was there and I even saw him there but he pretended not to see me! I will say this - if the hotel/the manager gave me a bottle of rum as an apology, it would be very nice but I did not expect it and I expected only a simple apology and I didnt get one! All this weird behavior from the manager was unprofessional and only made my experience worse. I would love to go back to Jamaica but I will definitely choose another resort. Drinki w większości były bardzo słabe a na dwa dni przed końcem naszego pobytu zabrakło w resorcie piwa! I to jeszcze nie koniec ... bo ostatniego dnia naszego pobytu brakowało w barach rumu i innych alkoholi więc nie mogli przygotować właściwie zadnych drinków! Wśród pracowników dało się wyczuć frustrację. 3. Wielokrotnie słyszałam od pracowników że na Jamajce obowiązuje czas Jamajski co należy rozumieć że nikt się nie spieszy i nie stresuje... I to jest bardzo fajne ale często nie stosuje się do gości hotelowych którzy muszą podawać numer pokoju na każdym kroku! Bar na plaży powinnien działać od 10 rano do 6 wieczorem a często był zamknięty już o 5. To samo działo się z wymianą ręczników... A zatem żeby podsumować ten temat- fajnie by było gdyby to goście hotelowi mogli zaznac relaksu i braku stresu i żeby pracownicy starali się być pomocni w tym. 4. W salacie która była na moim talerzu znalazłam dość duża i ruszającą się gąsienicę! To było straszne doznanie! Pokazaliśmy gąsienicę pani z obsługi a ona swojemu przełożonemu... no i liczyłam na jakieś przepraszam ale bardzo się zawiodłam. Manager podszedł do mnie i zapytał o numer pokoju (a jakże) i o imię i czy będę na śniadaniu następnego dnia. Ja na śniadaniu byłam ale jego nie było! Później podszedł do mnie w kawiarence i znowu coś tam niejasno obiecywał i umawiał się na śniadaniu następnego dnia. I ponownie- ja byłam i nawet jego tam widziałam ale on udawal że mnie nie widzi! Powiem tak- gdyby hotel w osobie managera podarował mi butelkę rumu na przeprosiny to by było bardzo miło ale ja nie spodziewałam sie tego I oczekiwałam tylko zwykłego przepraszam a i tego nie było! Całe to dziwne zachowanie managera było nieprofesjonalne i tylko pogorszyło moje wrażenia. Bardzo bym chciała wrócić na Jamajke ale z całą pewnością wybiorę inny resort.

Check in was unimpeded. The property was clean, modern and beautifully maintained.i enjoyed the amenities and accommodation. Mr Weston the guest service manager was exceptional. The room was clean and spacious. The restaurants were conveniently located next to each other which is definitely a plus. The food was great.

Disappointing visit to Jamaica where we stayed at the Ocean Coral Springs resort. If you’re thinking of booking, don’t. • Not a five star resort, it’s a low 4 at best • Slow service everywhere. “One moment please” actually means about 20 minutes • Never any wine available at lunchtime and on 3 occasions I walked to the lobby to get wine myself • Air conditioning broken in room, which was fixed • Bathroom not cleaned daily – long black hair present for a week, advised manager was told this had been deep cleaned to return with the hotel manager to see said black hair on shower wall still present • Hotel is tired – any maintenance seems to be slap dash • Theft is rife from hotel safes. We knew of two individual cases where £1,000 and £250 respectively vanished from the safe. • Red Snapper bar – hit and miss with sunset drinks. Should be open every evening and not closed at 5. • Most restaurants incredibly slow with food not prepared to order, rather ready made in the back o Red Snapper – dreadful lunch, good for limited breakfast o Indian – best service o Route 66 – awful o Teppanyaki – best restaurant by far o Italian – items not available on limited menu and rude server o Martha’s Market – mayhem. Dirty walls, dirty ceiling. Slow service o Privilege – if this was their best, that’s a shame o Jerk shack was amazing though • Tour sold by onsite vendor to Dunns River Falls with a catamaran and snorkelling trip cancelled upon arrival to catamaran site – still awaiting refund When we were there, there was a convention for Jamaican teachers for 2 nights and 3 days which the hotel couldn’t cope with. There were queues everywhere and this impacted severely on paying guests’ experiences. I’d say about 10% of staff were polite, the rest not so much. Special shouts outs to Shane and Nickey at Martha’s Market for acknowledging that we wanted wine with lunch! Big thank yous to Rajay, Ronaldo and Thaneshia at the lobby bar for always being friendly and smiley. To Samantha at Red Snapper bar for the yummy margaritas and finally to Brison the F&B concierge who listened to my concerns. Andre tried to help with everything but sadly he was putting out little fires everywhere due to so many mishaps with so many guests that some goodwill gestures such as restaurants weren’t booked. He did put things right where he could. In summary, if you’re thinking of booking here – don’t. Go elsewhere.
