We have just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. Here is my honest review 1 - check in was quick however we was the only ones on our flight staying here, took about 20 mins to check in. We were offered sunclub upgrade for $80 per couple per day but declined as we where only here for a week. 2 - Room was nice, we stayed in 1321 there was a musky smell on arrival that did fade as the week went, I wondered if it was the mop the cleaner used. Wasn't a major problem, bed sheets felt slightly damp not sure if that was the moisture in the air with how humid it is. 3 - Aircon worked fine first half the week, the last few days it seemed to stop blowing as cool, the aircon in the buffet was the same ok at the start but by the end of the week it wasn't working. 4 - Food was the biggest let down of the holiday for me, breakfast was lukewarm/cold most days, you can get freshly made eggs and omelette but it does get repetitive. Not much choice for food in the buffet and again I found most things to be lukewarm in temperature. Pizza bar wasn't much better very bland pizza, burgers always seemed pink in the middle. Be careful with the pork on 2 occasions it was served to me still bloody. The Al a carte restaurants weren't much better, some only open certain days we did enjoy the Chinese on the last day, probably the best one of them all. 5 - pool area was OK, always a spot to sit, it was low season so I can imagine when the hotel is busy it would be a nightmare getting a spit. Kids pool wasn't clean when we went to have a look at it, it was full muck floating on the top of the water. 6 - Beach is beautiful, always a bed available, jts absolutely stunning. The sea was murky the first half the week from sand swill but the last day it resembled more the usual caribbean blue and green sea. 7 - staff all seemed friendly enough, there is a language barrier with some staff and I did find everything is catered more for Spanish speaking guest. 8 - Vendors on the beach can be a nightmare, it just takes a polite no thank you but by the 30th time of saying no daily it does get annoying when your just trying to relax. Overall it was a pleasant week, we hired a cabana for $75 the last day and must say it was worrh it, nice and chilled with no vendors allowed to come over! The hotel has so much potential and they have the right idea but it just isn't executed as well as some of the larger hotel chains. The frozen cocktails and stunning scenery saved it for me! Food definitely needs to improve and the aircon needs to be looked at but other than that if your travelling here on a budget and aren't to fussy with your food you should have a good time. I'm not fussy by any means and appreciated every minute of being on this beautiful island, however I do think we chose the wrong hotel for us.

I had the most fun at the sports bar with Dauris the bartender! He was exceptional and his customer service even when the bar was full was always great! I will come back just for him! The music was great, the vibe was awesome, the drinks were sooo good!

Since January of this year, I have been trying to get a response directly from Hyatt Sunscape Resort, but they have not been responding appropriately to my requests. As a Hyatt Globalist member, I find this frustrating. I feel I’m being forced to write a review in hopes that this will prompt a proper response from Hyatt. 1.- Despite the upgrade, room 1139 did not align with the promised amenities, specifically an Ocean View, severely affecting our experience. 2.- Our room was outdated, muggy, and humid. TV service was absent for the initial two days due to missing batteries, and other room features malfunctioning, indicating potential neglect since the hotel's takeover by Hyatt. 3.- Lack of cleanliness, a flooding incident due to a clogged toilet, and the use of our bathroom towels during repairs left us with one towel for the remainder of our stay. 4.- Internet service interruptions and the absence of hot water during our last days were highly inconvenient. 5.- The inconsistency of the hotel app services, notably slow restaurant service, and frequent errors in our food orders significantly affected our dining experiences. Furthermore, encountering a bartender unfamiliar with Chardonnay raised concerns regarding the staff's knowledge and training. 6.- We upgraded to an Adult Club Level room but there were children in the adult pool and families with small children in adults-only areas compromised the intended ambiance and tranquility. 7.- Breakfast buffet service at Kaleidoscope was substandard. Despite the hotel not being fully occupied, we encountered extended waiting times to receive coffee and drinks. Additionally, the available choices for fresh natural juices were notably limited, contributing to the poor service quality experienced. 8.- Inconsistent Restaurant Operations: Erratic restaurant opening hours, unexpected closures, and the unexpected requirement of reservations at Tierra restaurant disrupted our dining plans. Specialty restaurants like Chopstick and Blue Water Grill were never available during our stay. 9.- The New Year's celebration was enjoyable; however, it was evident that the hotel was understaffed. The sight of numerous dirty glasses and dishes at the main bar by the pool detracted from the overall experience. 10.- Regardless of the upgrading for exclusive access, additional charges were imposed for available beach beds. 11.- Access to the adults-only area, especially to the Club room, seemed open to all guests, even those who hadn't paid for the privilege. This information appears widespread online, with suggestions that upgrading isn't necessary as everyone can access the facilities regardless of their payment or reservation details. 12.- Despite my eligibility based on Hyatt status, the denial of a late check-out, accompanied by a fee demand, was disappointing. It is crucial to note that these challenges occurred consistently throughout our 6-night/7 day stay, not just during 2 days. Considering the cumulative impact on the quality of our vacation, we kindly request comprehensive compensation. We paid a lot of money for our stay and believe that a fair resolution would involve appropriate compensation to reflect the multiple inconveniences we endured. We trust that your commitment to guest satisfaction will guide you in addressing our concerns and providing a satisfactory resolution.
