This hotel claims to be a 5 star but it is not. The building is nice looking as is the pool area. Food at the buffet is average at best, mostly the same day after day. The service in the buffet restaurant is poor. Tables often full of dirty dishes, seems like they are short on staff. Drinks are very overprized. The spa was good, also pool area. Rooms mostly ok but the bed was noisy when you moved. Soundproofing of the rooms are lacking for this standard of hotel. Staff mostly nice and helpful exept in the buffet restaurant, chaos at times.

We returned yesterday from a 7 day break. Family of 5 who booked 2 rooms. Good points We felt that the hotel building was very nice and clean. The bedroom and beds were very comfortable. We paid extra for a sea view which we were glad of as we noticed that those without a view over looked waste land with building activity. Bad points The Restaurant We chose this hotel as there had been good reviews on the restaurant. I'm not sure what has happened but the restaurant is certainly not 5 star. You had to walk around the restaurant and find a table and although there would be plenty of tables available they would be piled with dirty dishes. When eventually a table was found it was almost impossible to find a waiter to take your drinks order. Then when you had finished your first course you were left with your dirty plates piled in the middle of the table. Hence by the dessert course your table would be full of dirty plates. The food itself was quite repetitive, and many dishes (not all) cold/dried up. There were some nice dishes e.g risotto, pizza, soup, salad, gnocchi. A big problem was that there were many serving areas that were empty and people were waiting for them to be refilled. I think I was only lucky enough to secure a piece of garlic bread on one occasion and the cheese board was almost always empty ( unless you were lucky enough to be there when they brought it out). There was a sense of laziness with the menu with the same thing being served at every meal. The baguette slices with tuna and cream cheese were out every day for breakfast and dinner! The vegetables were almost the same every night. The desserts were probably the most disappointing. Every night the dessert was a selection of cakes or fruit. The same cake would then be at breakfast. There seemed to be a rotation between the cakes so the same ones would appear every other day. There were no actual desserts e.g creme brulé, mousse. At breakfast there were 4 coffee machines for the whole restaurant and on the second day 1 had broken and by the 4th day two had broken. This meant queuing for a very long time each morning. Also the juice machine was a good idea but there were often no glasses available so you would be left standing there again waiting. On one occasion a waiter just shrugged and said there were no glasses anywhere. The whole restaurant experience was very poor, especially as we were hoping for a 5 star experience. The spa The pool was quite small but ok for us as the resort wasn't too busy to start with. However it was very cold for our first few days. The temperature written on the board was 30 degrees but is absolutely was not. On the 4th day staff were taking samples and testing the pool and there seemed to be a lot of chatting going on. Then within about 20 mins we felt some warmer water being fed through the jets. The next day the pool felt warmer and was pleasant to swim in. It is disappointing that it took the hotel 4 days of our stay to rectify the problem. The gym area was nice but very small. Carpark We were not aware of a 60 euro charge for parking behind the hotel. This was a small car park which was not gated or manned and on occasions there would be no room on return. Area The area is practically closed in April so really this should be made clear at the time of booking. All of the bars on walk into the town were closed with many having building work done. The shops at the front of the hotel were all closed. There was a lot of noisy building work around the hotel. Again should be mentioned at time of booking. Bars The rooftop bar is beautiful and definitely worth a visit. However, the Lobby bar had a very limited menu - no coke or draught beer. We were told it was because they had only been open a week but I feel that if guests are paying a high price for your hotel then everything should be available from day 1. Drinks were very expensive and even water needed to be paid for at dinner. Overall I am sorry to say that we would not recommend this hotel for the price that we paid. We would probably have accepted some of the issues above in a 3 star hotel at a lower price but when you pay for 5 star you should except to receive that quality of a hotel.
