The Chelsea

The service is the friendliest and most helpful I have experienced. They immediately make you feel at home and valued. The hotel has become a bit of a spot to be seen since the new Dylan movie and it’s both exciting and fun to sit in the lobby and view the comings and goings of a wide ranging types. The room is beautiful. The old details were kept but modern conveniences abound.. There were several media events during our stay and respectfully they ended at 10:30pm during the weekdays. The thick walls of the original building kept most noise out and I can honestly say I slept better at The Chelsea Hotel than I do at home. The location is convenient to Chelsea and we went to a dance performance at The Joyce. An unexpected treat

I HATED having to check-out! I want to live there!! We arrived on an early flight to Newark, so we could not check-in at 6am but the staff at the front desk, especially a young man whom I didn't catch his name, was wonderful. He gave us a some coffee and a voucher for the cafe which opened at 7am. After breakfast we walked to Flat Iron and then down 5th towards the parks. The Hotel was excellent, accommodations were great, clean and comfortable, the balcony and hallways takes you back in time. The Subway is a short walk to the corner. The Chelsea Lobby Bar was cool and relaxed. Like I said, wishing I could live there.

The coolest and also friendliest place I have stayed at in NYC . The staff are a throwback to true service . The libby bar is amazing and I already miss my morning coffee in the breakfast area . If you like art ( I didn’t realise how much I did until I stayed here ) then please visit . You are in for a treat

The room was beautiful and the amenities great. It was great being connected to the Chelsea Cafe. I loved the area - walkable to the Theater District, NYU, Soho etc. Not close to any but not that far either. Very central. Staff were great and accommodated both a slightly early check-in and a slightly late check out. It has a great lounge area where I was able to take several casual meetings. I stayed in a suite. It was worth every penny. It truly felt like we had a NYC apartment (it has a fridge, washer/dryer, oven, stove and even a toaster oven. Now to the drawback and why I didn't give it 5 stars. There are just two small elevators. I was staying on the 8th floor. They are INCREDIBLY slow so we found ourselves constantly waiting. And the reason they are slow is the annoying part. There are no staff elevators so you will constantly have maintenance staff, cleaning staff, security and hospitality staff riding with you. Want to go from 8 to lobby? Probably will stop on 5 to pick up staff who gets off on 3. Want to ride up to the 8th floor? First wait for staff to ride to the level below lobby to do whatever they do there. It was constant. They were even on their phones and talking constantly while on the elevators. It became a bit of inside joke to all other passengers we saw. Clearly the hotel knows this is a problem. They should do something about it. If it weren't for the elevator issue this might have become my "always stay" hotel in NYC and I'm there 6-7 times / year. One other small issue - it's quite noisy. It's on a busy street and it seems as though they don't have double or triple glazing. I sleep with earplugs so I was fine but it woke my wife up several times. Would I stay there again? Probably. The positives outweighed the elevator annoyance. I am fit and I walked up and down the 8 floors several times. But it would at least make me think twice about it.

I am a mom and stayed here with my two boys, 15 and 11. We wanted something really nice. We stayed 2 nights over spring break in a one bedroom suite! It was fabulous!!! The room is immaculate (and I’m a picky about it being clean) and decorated beautifully. The hotel restaurants are absolutely delicious and the customer service is top notch. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
