The animators were very nice, helpful and funny. Our family’s favorite animator was Champagne because he danced nicely and his fitness activities were good and attracted a lot of people. The nights he put on a show were very entertaining and funny.

We were there in January, and the hotel renovations were not finished. You have to wait a long time at the bars; it's a little bit disorganized. Also, the themed restaurants are sometimes really full, and you can't visit them, so you need to go to the buffet restaurant. The worst thing is that sometimes they allow people from cruises for a day trip to the hotel, and then it's really crowded; you can't get a sunbed, everything is full, and you can't relax. The room was okay, but our shower was not really working. We called the reception, and they solved the problem really fast. The staff is really nice! Isabel, Sebastian, and Annie have been really respectful and funny. Also, the beach is really beautiful, and the hotel is well-located. The entertainment is also amazing; you can do a lot of activities. I would recommend the hotel, but hopefully, they will solve the problems.

We were a group of 3 couples travelling together. Vacation started on a bad note with a 5.5 hour delay from Transat so we arrived around 9 pm to the resort instead of 2:30 pm. We went to the check-in desk and they couldn't find our reservation. After 15 minutes they asked if we were Sun Club and we said yes and were escorted to another area, Sun Club Lounge, to check in. We were offered snacks and drinks and chairs. We had to fill out a 3 page document for each room which was tedious after an exhausting day/flight. Our rooms were not what we had requested and so we were sent off to get dinner and told to come back. After a 5 minute walk in total darkness and not really knowing where we were going, we arrived at the buffet restaurant. Food was good but at the late hour, not a lot of choice. We got back to the lounge around 10:30 pm and our rooms were ready but we were 3 couples travelling together and were put in 3 different buildings, even though we all booked together. We were placed in Building 15 and outside our room door was some overgrown vegetation and a gas line pipe and a fence with barb wire on top. Extremely unpleasant to look at each time you open your door. The patio door overlooked a walkway/roadway to the main buffet and pool and was used by motorized vehicles and motorcycles late at night which was extremely noisy. Not sure how this is considered an upgrade! When we finally arrived to our room, just after 11 pm we find the toilet doesn't flush and the telephone does not work. We walk back to reception (2-3 minute walk each way) to let them know and use the washroom. They will come and fix the toilet but they already knew the phone didn't work! Toilet fixed half hour later and the first time we use it, same problem. No phone, so walk back to reception to report it. They come back and fix again (now after 1 am next day) and advise we cannot flush any toilet paper down the toilet for the rest of our stay and gave us an open trash can for used toilet paper. Not ideal but it is what it is. Day 2 - toilet not working again, walk back to reception and report it and ask about phone. Toilet fixed again and reminded about toilet paper even though we were not flushing it. Telephone still not fixed after several trips to the front desk. So much for complimentary room service. On the 3rd day my husband unplugged the phone, walked up to reception and placed it on their desk. Then the manager come with a repairman to bring a new phone - problem solved. Tried to call room service that evening but you have to pre-book a time slot and the earliest was the following day in the afternoon. What a joke! On the last 3 days of our vacation our room was still not refreshed/cleaned when we returned from the pool/beach after 4:30 pm. We had to find the room attendant and ask for clean towels to shower. Every day something would be missed. One day it was the garbage can in the bathroom, most days they would forget to leave clean towels or a bath mat. Food The main buffet was very good and there was an abundance of fresh vegetables at each meal. Probably one of the best resort buffets we have had. The Asian restaurant was delicious, the Mediterranean and Italian were open alternating evenings and the food was ok but not wonderful and the serving sizes are small. There is a food truck after 6 pm offering hamburgers, hot dogs and nachos and cheese. It was quite tasty for a quick meal. I did not try the pizza restaurant but others in our group really enjoyed it. Coffee shop and Sun Club lounge snacks were a hit with everyone. We did not try the Mexican. The Sun Club buffet is a joke. We went on two occasions - once for breakfast and once at lunch. Breakfast was slim pickings and food was cold. Lunch we left and went to the main buffet - there was hardly anything to eat. They do not cook most of the food here. It is cooked elsewhere and brought on carts to this restaurant to serve. It is supposed to be an upgrade but both times we attended it was slim pickings and cold food. Beach/Pool I am not a beach lover and prefer the pool but rest of our group enjoyed the beach. Water was clear, beautiful but rocky. The beach is small, only about 20 feet of sand before the shore and chairs are hard to find. Pool was lovely, large and easy to find chairs. A little cooler than I like but once you got in, it was okay on the sunny days. General The resort is quite large and everything is spread out so you can get in a lot of walking. Evening entertainment on two occasions was cancelled due to rain - no alternate entertainment choice was available. If you have mobility issues, you would not be comfortable at this resort. Would I return to this resort - no. Nothing terrible just nothing special either and not worth the extra long drive from Punta Cana airport. There are numerous lovely resorts in Punta Cana. We wanted to try La Romana - we did, thank you.
