Villa Bonaca

This was just perfect in every way! The location cannot be better, the pool was clean & the view just lovely, the villa spacious and well equipped. We had the best holiday ever in this gorgeous spot. It was better than we could have expected. Thank you very much, we will be back.

Our family shared a week in this wonderful Villa and were cared for by the lovely Angela. Sumartin was beautiful and the Villa so close to everything. Our grandchildren loved the free and friendly people as they shopped for ice creams and other treats. Restaurants were so close and great value. Thank you Angela.

We flew to split and then rented a car and drove to Makarska which took around 1 hr 30 minutes. We then took the ferry which takes around 45 minutes to sumartin. It costs 30kun per adult and then 150kun for a car. As soon as you get into the harbour of sumartin you are at the villa within 1 minute. We had a warm welcome from the owner who showed us around, the villa was really well equipped. We went to the supermarket before arriving expecting the villa to have nothing so we purchased toilet roll, washing up liquid, salt and pepper etc and it was all there already which was lovely. It is clear a lot of thought has been put Into what may be needed such as a washing machine, coffee maker, dishwasher, lots of plates and glasses and cutlery etc we really didn’t need anything. All of the rooms had air conditioning and there was a Lovely outdoor seating area. I would have loved somewhere more comfortable to sit in the evening as it was quite cold outside and wasn’t really suitable for us to sit outside together. So 2 of us would often sit in the kitchen and 2 would sit in the bedroom or we would go out. The pool was a nice size, it was a bit green around the outside but it didn’t bother us really. We came a bit late in the year to benefit from being in the pool really as it was a bit cold. The supermarket is right next door, there is also a few restaurants, Tourist information, fruit and veg stall and in peak season a ice cream vendor and bakery. The villa overlooks the harbour and the church which looks lovely when lit up at night. We found the villa to be in a great location, we were glad we had the car so we could explore the island but it was very convenient and we would definately recommend if you want a relaxing break.

Villa Bonaca is in the perfect spot - great views over the harbour with its little spots for bathing. The kids could even go by themselves to jump off the jetty into the sea without leaving our sight, and a bakery, fruit stand and little supermarket were a few steps away. The villa itself was great, and well looked-after - it had everything we needed for a week's stay for a family of 5, and the pool was very welcome in the heat. Lots to do in Bol, which is a short (and stunning) drive away, if windsurfing and sailing are on the agenda. You can hire mopeds and motorboats in Sumartin though. One tip - the ferry between Sumartin and Makarska is small and very busy. We had to put our car in the queue soon after 6am to catch the 9.30am boat to the mainland on an August Saturday. Split to Supetar may be a better option, particularly for arrival - the boats are bigger and more frequent, so there's less chance of having to wait on the quayside in the heat.
