Riu Caribe

This was the hotel/stay of my dreams! I came to the Caribe about 10 years ago with family and I knew from then it was a great stay. I chose to come back based on familiarity. What I didn't realize is that the resort underwent renovations last summer and everything was for the better. Everything was so modern, clean and organized. I loved how all the restaurants were in one spot so there was no need to walk far. The food was always amazing and I wanted to keep eating. There was so much variety that I wasn't bored. Drinks and bartenders were great too! Shout out to Sheila for my cappuccinos every morning!! The entertainers were great too and always happy, looking to get us involved. The parties were AMAZING as well. It was my/our first time experiencing something like that and we had the best time. The only things I could really nitpick, IF I HAD TO, was that the same songs played in the same order every day when the entertainers introduced themselves. There was not much variety in terms of pool side music. EVen for the parties, the same songs played multiple times. The gym was a little small and didn have much variety (yes I'm that crazy person that gyms while on vacation), and the nightly entertainment... the shows at Calypso were great I really enjoyed those! it was just the after that left me wanting more... it was quiet in the evening. But honestly, other than what I just mentioned, I would come back to this resort in an absolute heartbeat. This was my first resort in Cancun 10 years ago which made me fall in love with Mexico in the first place. This resort and Cancun/Mexico will always be in my heart!!

Just not for us!! Overall rui caribe is a nice resort. Food was pretty average for todays all-inclusive. We’ve been doing family vacation for the past 8 years and we have noticed most resorts have reduced their choices, quantity and quality of food. The reasons we will not return to rui is the atmosphere. Hard to relax and enjoy your vacation when the group next to you hooks up their blue tooth speaker. Of course, the more they drank the louder it got. Although the swim-up bar is a non-smoking area, quite often we could smell cigarettes. Unfortunately resort personnel would just walk by and not enforce pool policies. If you’re looking for the (college spring break) theme, this place if for you. If you want a relaxing, all you can eat and drink vacation, find somewhere else

We went to RIU Caribe in April 2024. We had such an amazing time there. Beautiful sand and beach. Our room was perfect with a beautiful view of the ocean. The staff at the hotel were the best. You couldn't walk anywhere without seeing someone cleaning. It was very nice. Even the outdoor restrooms by the pool/beach were clean! The food was great. Beautiful displays at the buffet like restaurant and the service was perfect.

Do NOT go to this resort if you are a black person! The racism was so horrific that my friends and I were thrown into jail based on a false eye witness account and a false statement by the hotel manager. To literally add insult to injury, the police almost broke my wrist, did not allow us to call anyone and placed us in a cell with human feces.

I have been to Cancun 6 times and have always stayed at RIU Cancun. I decided to try a different property this time. I love this property. The room was very nice, and I chose the ocean front view and it was spectacular ! The food was very good. The buffet is done nicely. I love all the options for laying at the beach/pool. Many ways to stay out of the sun on the beach with all the mature palm trees, and at the pools with umbrellas. The vibe is fun at the pool, with activities going on all the time. The entertainment crew is amazing, keeping everyone engaged. One of the reasons I decided to try a new property was how the pool action has changed at RIU Cancun. RIU Caribe has 4 themed parties throughout the week. My friend and I never made it to one of them..lol, but the party vibe was throughout the pool area, so we didn't feel like we missed anything. One thing to note, is that men need to have a shirt with sleeves to come to dinner. My friend brought almost exclusively tank tops, so we had to scramble to find him shirts that were acceptable for dinner. Also, RIU Caribe seems to be more smoker friendly. There were several places near the pool to smoke, and they were even cool with smoking at your beach chair. RIU Cancun was very strict about the new smoking policies .All-in-all, I will stay at this property again next year. I loved it !
