Kalymnos is an island of rugged beauty that's a short boat trip from Kos. On this excursion, you'll sail over and spend the day exploring its highlights. Hop on a bus to visit the villages of Masouri and Mirties for top-notch beaches, then head over to Telendos island before swinging by the capital, Pothia on your way back. From Mastihari, you'll catch the ferry to Kalymnos, passing islands on either side. Arriving at the port, you'll meet the bus and head to Masouri first. You'll have an hour and a half to admire the limestone cliffs that make it popular with climbers and wander the colourful cafes and sandy beaches. Then it's on to Mirties, where the island's best beaches await – they're especially popular with families for swimming. A small boat will then take you across to car-free Telendos, a giant rock that rises out of the Aegean. Enjoy two hours of free time here for swimming, sunbathing and grabbing lunch in one of the seafront tavernas with epic views of Kalymnos. On your way back to Kalymnos port, you'll stop at Pothia. The colourful houses, arranged in the style of an amphitheatre are sure to impress at the entrance to the traditional harbour. You'll learn about sponge diving at a family-owned business – something the island is famed for. What's more, you can poke around a naval museum, which focuses on the island's maritime history. Then enjoy the views on the ferry journey back to Kos.
