Paradisus by Meliá Gran Canaria

We stayed for a week in April and had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. I had been concerned after reading a few poor reviews from March 24 about service, but need not have worried. We stayed in the Reserve section of the hotel, which was well worth it, giving us access to the adult only pool, some delicious wines and a very efficient concierge service. Although the hotel is larger than we would normally choose, the design is such that it feels more intimate. Most of the restaurants have their own different vibe and we liked the fact that there was service (rather than a buffet) in all but the Gastro Hall. The quality of the food and wine was fabulous and we experienced great customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. Do book the reserve level for a fabulous experience.

One of the most beautiful hotels i’ve ever stayed in, right on the beach, perfect for families and couples. Customer service was excellent all around the hotel. 7 Restaurants, however, the buffet restaurant was our personal favourite as it had a wide range of foods from all over the world, breakfast was amazing too. Rooms were beautiful and cleaned perfectly everyday. The prettiest views too. Our big family of 7 had the best time would most definitely stay here again. Big shoutout to Robert who works in The Shack by the pool! The best waiter in the world and kindest man with the best service, would come back to this hotel just to see him!

Top class hotel. Attention to detail is second to none. Food, rooms, views, pools, kid club are just great! Transfer from airport is 30 mins. Sea/beach is on doorstep of hotel. Staff are excellent and very helpful. Spa is great and nightly entertainment is on point. Not tacky or crass. Great hotel!

The hotel is located 25 minutes from the airport. Really easy to take a taxi on arrival. Rooms are beautiful. The hotel is stunning. Would recommend upgrading to a sea view. Food is brilliant. Everything fresh and lots of choice of restaurants for lunch and dinner. Our favourite was Mascalazone (Italian) which is open for lunch and dinner in a gorgeous setting. We were there during school holidays and ate in all restaurants. We were able to book easily on the app for the days and times we wanted. Service is outstanding. Robert at the shack was really friendly and went out of his way to help with gluten free options. Brendon at Ginger made a real fuss of our one year old. He was always welcoming and smiling. I was always there with my little girl at 6am and the staff kept the coffees flowing. The service in the Italian was great too I didn’t get their names but the manager went over and above. She arranged for a birthday cake to be sent to kids club for our daughter and everyone sing happy birthday to her which was a really special touch. Kids club is amazing. Our six year old didn’t want to leave and throughly enjoyed the endless activities. From making pizzas, crafts, water games, sports, cinema nights, kids disco, football. He had the best time with the other children and made lots of friends. Pablo was fantastic and encouraged all the children to join in. He always had a smile and genuinely wanted to make their holiday fun. On our way home and looking to return already.

We're 10 nights into an 11 night stay, the hotel is fabulous super relaxing, whether we were just lucky for the time we we booked who knows but what I can say is that having read many reviews (some negative to service & food we were a little wary) prior to our trip is that the hotel is wonderful, there was no need to worry at all! All the staff ( I could name several such as Rita in The Reserve and Robert in the Shack but there really are to many to name all) are amazing, they must all go to a Melia finishing School as they are all (without question) happy, charming, courteous and polite, many hotels could learn a thing a too from whatever training they give their staff as they are all consistently happy, polite and helpful, great work, they really can't do enough for you, well done, Melia your staff are a credit to you! Check-in was easy a wrist band which is also a key to the room very useful! The hotel is pristine, super clean, stylish, elegant yet simple. As said, everyone who works here are extremely friendly and well trained, they really do want you to enjoy your stay, credit to whoever trains the staff a great job well done! From the photos of the room I was worried there wouldn't be enough storage but we had plenty space for the two of us in a premium room, albeit it is all open view it was absolutely fine. The sunbeds were readily available no reserving them at 7am in the morning which was very rerfreshing so no need to set your alarm early for fear of not getting a sunbed something which always annoys me whilst on holiday, at 10am there were still plenty of sunbeds free, again whether that is because of the time of year I cannot say. I can say though, the pool is very relaxing, not to noisy at all. In terms of food, this is one of the most refreshening all inclusive hotels I have stayed in - there weren't lots of stations laid out with a massive amount of food (which you never know how long has been left), its not that type of hotel where people pile their plates hight with food as the quality is enough to not need trying lots of other things, the food is mainly cooked to order or refreshed as is it is used rather than just been piled up with massive's of food everywhere, thus the quality is far superior then most general AI (also less wastage I would imagine)! There are a selection of restaurants which were absolutely great, very fresh food, again excellent service and you never have the impression that they try to save money by not bringing drinks quickly, the restaurants are all served, i.e. no buffets which was a pleasant surprise as even when we decided to go to the buffet it had a premium feeling and not the typical queues and overcrowding at a normal AI buffet. The Reserve is lovely well located and good amenities, the only thing they could add which would make it even better would be beverage service at the pool though that said there is a bar which you can help yourself to so it wasn't to much of an issue. The location of the hotel is right on the beach albeit there is not much to do outside the hotel (thought a lovely walk) unless you get a cab or fancy a long walk, that said I have not felt the need to leave the hotel as it has everything in terms of food, entertainment and activities so that is not an issue. If you do want to venture out it's around 15 minutes to Melonares in a taxi. We have had the most wonderful time, Paradisus we thank you!
