Just a disclaimer that we got an upgrade to the corner suite which is beyond amazing so this review might be a bot biased Beach and view - 10/10 Room- 10/10 Food subjective - 10/10 Staff and entertainment team - 10/10 Drinks- we don’t drink alcohol but tried aome so can’t comment on the alcohol but the non alcoholic drinks were fantastic. Riu parties were crazy fun! People really knew how to have fun It’s also less than 10 mins leisure walk to the playa tortugas ferry terminal to isla mujeres We will be back next april 1000 percent

Surprised at a review written yesterday that claims the resort is dirty, outdated and doesn’t like Americans. None of those things are true AT ALL! This resort was just renovated last year and is extremely clean and well maintained. Our room is clean and has an amazing balcony and view! Housekeeping did a great job and bring you extra of whatever you ask for. Israel at the sports bar makes the best coffee every morning and is so friendly. Alberto at the lobby bar remembers our drink every night. We have stayed at all inclusives for 20 years and I very seldom write a review, but after reading such a negative one felt I had to. I added a picture of the lobby that the last review called a sh$thole…not so much. FYI, we are here now and loving this resort!

This is one of the worst resorts I have EVER stayed in. Americans ARE NOT WELCOME. I am not the only one who feels this way. My husband got extremely ill after eating here. The “resort” is run down unkept and frankly old. The staff does not care they are rude and disrespectful. The rooms are outdated. The “resort” is filthy and not regularly cleaned. The cleaning staff hangs out at 8 am chatting for an hour loudly talking in the hallway then supposedly cleans an hour or two later. I swear the floors & toilet were not washed in days. The lobby is a sh$thole, I knew as soon as I walked in this was a mistake. Don’t go here I can’t stress this enough!!!!! Don’t waste you hard earned money! They truly don’t care customer service 0…. This is NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURES. Don’t waste your time or money!

This resort does a good job of pleasing all ages. It's impressive how they have so much for kids to do, you hardly notice they are there. There are 3 pools: 1 active with aerobics, games & kids. The middle shallow swim up bar (adult friendly), and a lap pool for scuba, swimming laps, & volleyball. Hard working staff, great non alcoholic drinks, the fun team advertises & recruits people. the sun loungers are nice by the pools & there are sliding shade screens to cover or get an umbrella. The beach is beautiful with soft sand and nice to walk, but the beach chairs are stained & saturated in lotion and oils. So are the pools but they get cleaned every morning. Get to pool or beach early for best pick. The is a sewage smell at this resort that can be strong in some places like the outdoor restroom and in our bathroom. Not sure why bathroom has a silhouette window. it limits restroom privacy. The grounds are beautiful & clean. The beach bar always has fries, hamburgers & hot dogs, but also rotates fruit and proteins. The grilled chicken is delish. The buffet is better than all the restaurants in my opinion. The Riu Party was spectacular and safe fun at the resort.

In General, hotel was good. The lobby was not air conditioned, and quite humid. They did have a Sports Bar that was air conditioned and quite nice. It was open 24 hours for coffee, snacks and drinks. We booked our trip in Sept and asked for rooms near each other. We were assured they were - on the same floor, but 3 hallways apart. The part I did not like was the lounge chairs at the pool. I broke my arm a month before, and was fine for travel. I could not sit in the super low lounge chairs without help, and could not get up either. They need to put some straight up chairs with tables near the pools. Our hotel was the "party" hotel for all the Riu's. They had the parties (all other Riu hotels could free shuttle in.) Aside from that which was truly crazy and loud, there was absolutely nothing to do at night - nor any entertainment in the lobby. There were 9 of us. 6 of the 9 got the Noro virus. So, all in all - we would not return.
