Sunscape Dominicus La Romana

I went to this resort solo for this first time and the staff were so lovely. I wanted to specifically mention Rosana and Alba who ensured my safety and enjoyment my entire stay. Both of them had such a warm presence and bright energy, I would go back just to see them again! The overall resort was well kept, and the food was amazing. A great experience overall

First time in the Dominican and loved my trip! It is a beautiful small resort so it was very easy and nice to get around the whole resort with no struggle. Lots of beautiful landscape and gardens with fish/turtles/cool birds in the ponds. Room was nice and always had good service, of course we tipped every day so they made sure we had lots of bottles of water and lots of clean towels. There isn’t really anything I can say bad about the resort besides the bathroom between the lobby and theatre with the frosted stalls so it was very weird/awkward going in seeing peoples figure inside using the bathroom, it was uncomfortable so I went to the other lobby bathroom. I would also love if the lobby bar/disco would be open atleast another hour later like at 2 instead of 1 for some late nighters including myself. The staff were amazing everywhere we went and were very friendly. I enjoyed talking to all staff. The entertainment team were amazing as well! Me and my family joined the dance lessons which were very fun and incredible. Victor was full of energy and great vibes everytime I saw him, and enjoyed his yoga sessions at the beach in the mornings! Eduard, Champagne and happyboy were also the main entertainment team members I interacted with all week and were all amazing and very friendly. 5/5 recommend!

I would 100% go again, Lumy at the Core Zone was Very Very funny and kind and super fun. She played with us during our time there I was sad too leave because of how sweet and king she was.

I was at the hotel with my family and we loved the experience, the best of all was the explorer's club!!! Violet, Minnie and Star were just amazing we point there job with a 15 out of 10 their dedicación and love to the job the energy are just outstanding. We were at Dreams Macao and other hotels of the Hyatt family but like this explorer's club there is no comparison. Violet should be promoted to regional management as she is the head of all of these. My kid just didn't wanted to go out of the club. We're planning to go back to the hotel this or next year the most.

I have never written a review about any hotel ever but this time I just have to. I am not a demanding client & I think I can deal with some stuff but... THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A 4* RESORT. 3 stars MAX and let me tell you some of the awkvardness I am about to mention doesn´t even happen at 3* around the world. So to start with highlighting what IS actually there.. BEACH- super beautiful, there are some rocks in the ocean but you can avoid them and they are not sharp so imo no shoes needed. FOOD- OK in main restaurant but beware of getting some freshly cut meat- you might end up getting just bones. ROOMS- OK, but not enough space to put your luggage & clothes. We got nice room cleaning so we tipped well but after week 1 of our 2 weeks something changed and we did not get our minibar refilled..for some reason. Upon arrival I have asked for an ashtray as well as toilet brush - was told it ain´t possible - gross. maid brought us ashtray the next day so what is up with that GARDEN- seriously very well kept and beautiful fauna SPECIAL THANKS TO MARIA at Starboard- one of the very few shiney people at the hotel. KELVIN (Calvin? Kalvin? sorry man)at Chopsticks - for the BEST sushi & culinary show ever, GUYS at TICI TACO- very nice people there. Some guys at Sip&Dip deserve nobel prize for their smile & chuckleworthy attitude as well BUT.. To sum it up. THIS HOTEL HAS NO CAPACITY FOR ITS CLIENTELE AT BEACH & POOLSIDE AREA WHATSOEVER. 1, not enough palapas - and I understand it is a thing at DR, but NO RULES AND NO ORGANIZATION. one day we were able to reserve next day I was told it is forbidden - they literally threw people´s stuff (fins etc) at huge stack of things then some clients even lost their belongings ! Next day 7:00 EVERY SINGLE PALAPA reserved ! concierge useless... to quote ,, yes, we deal with that every year" Upon week 2 we werent able to stay by the pool either because everything was reserved and the last day we resorted to lay on the floor and we weren´t the only ones.... 2, THE STAFF..... I read the reviews upon booking about staff being arrogant but I thought to myself people are just spoiled or whatever..BUT DAMN. I have never felt so rejected as I felt at Sunscape. If you only speak English GOOD LUCK. OR let me be more specific. IF YOU DON´T SPEAK SPANISH YOU GET IGNORED & at times DON´T EVEN GET SERVED. Time to get the drinks can vary up to 30 minutes or nothing. 17:35 at sip & dip (which is opened till 18:00), after 20 mins of waiting for my drink, this guy, GABRIEL, keeps telling me with a smurk on his face ,,no we closed" and opening the Hyatt app didnt help. 5 minutes after that, a group of spanish speaking people get their orders. And I could go on and on about being ignored. And we have seen that with other non-spanish clients too Another super specialty of this resort - So I got sick and my fiancee went to Windows to get some food for me to our room. Lady at the desk told him he could´t take the plate because hotel´s managment are concerned with them being stolen. never have I ever met with this attitude. So overall, very SUBPAR experience (unless you fancy schlepping over the hotel grounds to complain without solution. OR if you like laying on the ground and getting sunburnt)
